Bayern will begin the 2008/09 Bundesliga season with a game against Hamburg played at the Allianz Arena on the 15th August.

i say Lucio, then Demichelis, i think Van Bommel if neither Lucio/Demi are playing... but Van Bommel is starting to get up there in age

Yup, I kind of agree with Brian. Lahm was quickly to put down Bayern and might have even left had Klismann not done whatever he did to him in that personal 1 on 1! :eek:

He needs to wait it out for 1 or 2 more seasons before he's captain. Just a weird thought, but if by some miracle Schweinsteiger becomes consistant and a regular starter who kicks ass like he does internationally, would he be a good captain or at least vice-captain for the future? He really does remind me of Effe, though his playing problems being the difference. But if lets say Klismann helps him find the missing link, would he be good for it? Just a random thought!

Nah, there just isn't much loyalty in football these days and I give Lahm credit for signing a longterm contract with us although he could've moved to one of clubs that are more attractive than Bayern at the moment.

That however doesn't change the fact that he isn't a leader and I doubt he will ever become one.

He's more of a leader than you think my friend. To the famous chat that all German players had without the coaches, Lahm said himself that he spoke on quite a few things on why things were not working out. Thing is we don't see it much on the field, though he definitely has the ego for it as when asked in an interview he thought he should have it! :D Klismann already stated he'll take a bit of time to see in training of all the guys who will speak up the most and show their leader qualities, so we will just have to wait and trust Klismann knows best.

Anyways, Klismann confirmed Podolski is staying, so I doubt Gomez is coming now. Duncan and Hendrik, your only hope is Hleb! Either way, Schweinsteiger will stay. I still don't get how he got a girl like his, she already has money since she's a model, maybe more fame? Maybe she just likes his personality, I don't get women at times.. :confused:

Schweinsteiger has a long way to go before he can even be compared to Effenberg, and thats not even considering their abilities on the pitch.

I'd say the pecking order for captain goes something like this:

1. Lucio
2. MvB
3. Ze Roberto/Sagnol
4. Lahm/Demichelis

are you kidding me? so tabloids make you believe he isn't a good enough captain??? last time i checked Lucio has never once demanded out, he is easily one of the most vocal players out on the pitch, he plays with a heart full of passion and he hasn't wanted out of his contract which he signed til 2010. he is easily one of the best CB's in the world and he is satisfied with Bayern Munich. he could have easily wanted out the past few years for a Real Madrid or Barcelona or whomever else. Lucio is good enough to be at the least the 2nd CB for any club if not the 1st. and last time i checked almost all major clubs play with 2 CB's. the guy is loads of talent, and his family is settled in Germany and they like it there.

if you've got issues with Lucio because of TABLOIDS, thats just utterly ridiculous... he's never once said he's wanted out, and he's never once had a single problem with management. obviously tabloids have to every once in a while start up something about a good player that is satisfied at the club. just look at Kahn, there were rumors throughout his career at different times that were bogus, but he stayed loyal to Bayern throughout

personally i wanted to toss Ze Roberto in there but he is getting up there in age, that is also why i was hesitant to put Van Bommel in there as well... but personally if age wasn't a factor i would have the EXACT same list, but i took age into account

My reasoning is as follows; Ze Roberto and Sagnol are both veterans and captain material but both will see significantly less playing time this upcoming season. In other words, because of their age they'll be both phased out so to speak. MvB on the other hand I can still see be a consistent starter simply because we lack a player of his character and he has about one or two good seasons in him.

Don't see it. Kraft will be our third choice keeper. Other than that I don't think we'll see anyone since our team is already so saturated.
