ACK! I saw what happened to Petke, but what happened to Eliseo?! (And just when he was really starting to put his stamp on games on a regular basis...crud.)
Well, OK now. That was fun.

Steve, you really know how to make an entrance!

Petke has a fractured right talus. Whatever that is.
Q2 has a 1st degree MCL sprain and a possible torn meniscus.

Q2 has a 1st degree MCL sprain and a possible torn meniscus.
The talus is the bone that is in front of the heel, and behind the metatarsal bones.
The tibula and fibula join it and the heel to form the ankle.
Q2 is otherwise in pretty strong shape, so if it's not a "bucket-handle tear", arthro surgery will not be too big a challenge.
Coming into your own on this team seems to be kinda like stepping in front of a subway train.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to both.

I hope they don't rush Milton Reyes back.

No way, Chico, that wouldnt be a wise sacrifice play at all.
As you know, I am a bigtime fan of Milton.
No way I want to see him re-injured, especially now that he is needed even more, he needs to be 110% before he comes back.

damn steve, i don't want to "kill the messenger" here, but couldn't you have had some good news? anyway, thanks for getting us the new info.
damn, just as q2 was coming into his own. oh well, one of the things i like about this team is that almost all the field players can play more than one position. we have good depth at both midfield and the backline. i guess no chance tino might regain his health?
so two starters out, i am just going to assume earnie goes.

Is Tino anywhere close to healthy?
Are we going back to the 3-5-2?

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking.
Petke's biggest mistake was cutting all that blond out of his hair. Bad luck.

You know, this team just does not believe in doing anything the easy way. This team works and tries but either puts an obstacle in it's way or always finds a way to get some bad breaks (no pun intended).
I said prior to the season that depth would be the decider this year. That Metro and Chicago would suffer b/c lack of depth and we'd prosper b/c of it. Well, Metro and Chicago have developed some depth--so they survived the absence of guys like Pope and Bocanegra. And DCU's depth has been critical. To put this into perspective, we're actually down FOUR players (b/c Convey is gone--so we're playing with a 17 man roster).
I think this pretty much guarantees Nelsen stays at D-mid which puts either Namoff or Kovalenko at D-mid. Greater chance of PT for Eskandarian and Stokes.

Well, I guess we ARE getting the breaks, right?

It never ends, does it?
Well, I suppose Ivanov can go in the middle with Nellie, so the back line is set.
It looks like Etch and Stoitch will be starting, so.....
Rimando-GK
Prideaux-RB
Ivanov-CB
Nelsen-CB
Namoff-LB
Olsen-RM
Etcheverry-CM
Kovalenko-CM
Stoitchkov-LAM
Eskandarian-RF
Curtis-LF
We'll have Stoitchkov as a deep foward, springing Curtis like he's been all season, so really, we won't have a left winger per se.

I hope Ivanov shows us 4-6 weeks of good play to make sense of the SI we dropped on him. Jury's still out.
I'm more bummed about Q2 going down. Fortunately it's for a shorter term, but he was finally getting into the form we had expected of him. Especially since he's been one of the few offensive lights so far.
BTW, no way they rush Reyes back. That's why we have Ivanov, right?

I hope none of our defenders are sitting close to a suspension for yellows. If one of them picks up a suspension, we're gonna see Stokes on the field, or that convoluted 352 that lost us so many games early in the year.

These are dreary thoughts.

Etch and Hristo can't be on the field together at the same time, especially not with both in the midfield. That's a defensive lapse waiting to happen. And the way we've been scoring goals lately (i.e., one per game), we can't afford any of those.
Rimando
Ivanov Prideaux Nelsen Namoff
Dema
Olsen Etch Stewart
Ali Esky
Hristo, Stokes, Chino, Carroll, Warren as subs.
Wow, is anyone healthy aside from those 16? Q1?
