Okay now its time to start checking out who could be coming up, then we can also talk about the new 3rd regionalliga. (That does start next season right?)
We've got Fortuna Dusseldorf looking good in the North with RW Oberhausen behind the Werder reserves.
Vfb Stuttgart is leading the way, with SV-Sandhausen (buddy of mine played there back in the day), in 2nd place, 3rd is VfR Ahlen. (Weren't they dropped last season?)

Who will be promoted in the north is pretty much impossible to predict right now. We have the pretty much unique situation that even the first placed team is by no means save from relegation yet currently. Union and Dresden are in trouble concerning their licenses, Union doesn't have a stadium suitable of pro football (the DFB won't renew it's approval of the stadium for next season) and Dresden can't pay the players beyond march currently.

You're thinking of Ahlen (who were relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga two years ago and play RL Nord), but the RL Süd club is VfR Aalen. My money is on Ingolstadt going up, maybe Aalen as second (continuinig the trend of getting village teams nobody cares about into the second division).

Good luck to Benno & your guys! Still 4 points to catch up...
How are Thorsten Oehrl & Benny Fuchs (both from the Greuther Fürth youth) doing?

So, is it that the top two (baring amatures) go up to 2. Bundi and then the following eight going to 3. Bundi?
Thats what I thought.
But, can amature sides play in the 3. Bundi.
I'm worried about Essen. Does anyone know of a finacial problem with them? I havent herd anything but you never know.
thanks

Fuchs, for most of the time, was mostly injured or played for the reserve team, a total of 6 games for the first team before the winter break. After the break he has played one game, in defence, and was pretty good for a change, scoring a nice goal. However, he got himself injured again after that.
Oehrl is ok, I guess. He had a good run in the middle of the season, with 5 goals in 3 games, but other than that he was hardly the most dangerous striker arround. However, maybe the change in formation will help him to actually score. I'd put him on the bench right now, though.
Fejzic, the third Fürth player Möhlmann took with him, is sitting on the bench. Thank god.

4 in total can qualify, ideally two per league.
As far as Essen goes, nothing out of the ordinary right now for them as far as I know. However, I doubt they are swimming in cash.

Yes, up to four of them are allowed to play in the 3. Bundesliga.

Yes, if not more than 4 reserve sides qualify for the 3. Bundesliga
the relegated teams from 2. BL and from each league the best 8 teams
not getting promoted qualify for the 3. Bundesliga.
If more than 4 amateur sides qualify only the best four are allowed to play 3.BL.
Let´s say for example 5 amateur sides qualify, then the best 4 are allowed
to play in 3. Bundesliga and the worst amateur side gets replaced
by the best non-amateur club, that didn´t qualify for the 3. Bundesliga.

First criteria will be geography, though. If 5 qualify, the 2 best from North and the 2 best from South will be allowed first, unless in one of the leagues only one reserve side would have made it into the top 10.
So, if reserve sides would finish 1-3 in the North, and two reserve sides would be on 9 and 10 in the South, the 3rd placed team in the north will miss out.

RWE have no immediate financial troubles..Not any that their fans or anyone else talk about anyway.
Failing to qualify for the new 3.Buli might be a problem though, RWE is looking for a new head sponsor and there is a limit on how far any sponsor might go for a team that fails to deliver.
Attendances have taken a hit I guess but wage costs must be lower than last year so it evens out I reckon.
The main complaint I hear is that the Heiko style of footy is so boring...and not very efficient either.

Dresden are hardly alone...the whole RL is filled with clubs that overextended themselves financially, or simple failed to adept to the commercialisation of football.

Yes, look at Lubeck for example, they played for many years for promotion
to 2.BL or in 2.BL, but before the season started they had to sell
their best players and are this season far away from qualifying for 3.BL.
Even worse they still have depts and will propably sell the remaining squad
and try a new start at 6th or 7th German league
(like Oldenburg some years ago).

the city of dresden will help the team with emergency money. Also wasn't Dresden supposed to build a new stadium? I don't know much about it... did the city pay with the club? Worst case ( if they are building a stadium) they could sell the naming rights i would think.

The stadium is currently rebuild. Because of this, the maximum capacity is reduced to 9.000 for this season. Now the joke: the club has calculated with an average of 12.000 for this season. Now, after 24 games they finally realized the slight problem with this calculation and come crying for help.
Seriously, ******** them. That's either the most stupid thing ever, or they are flat out lying and are using this as an excuse. If the city helped them out, that would be a joke.
To be fair, the stadium still had a much higher capacity at the beginning of the season and the building company originally promised to keep it a higher maximum capacity, although this promise in the end couldn't be kept. But considering the re-building, counting so much on the ticket money just doesn't seem reasonable to me.

LOOOL.
I like the city ... but to be honest, I don't feel sorry for the football club Dynamo Dresden.

So it looks like the City of Dresden will keep them afloat for now...I can understand that actually as they are spending €42m on renovating the stadium, money they will never get back unless Dynamo is there to pull the crowds.
It just struck me that Leipzig, Magdeburg and now Dresden are getting new stadiums for free...but the ossi clubs that really have managed to pull themselves together like Cottbus and Hansa gets nothing?

I can understand the reasoning of the city helping now, as they would loose a lot of money otherwise. But in the end, it just means that the clubs is saved despite it's completely clueless planning. They have one of the most expensive teams in the league, yet couldn't even pay the wages for next month without the city helping out. The joke I was refering to isn't so much that the city is giving the club an advance, but that the club get's away with basically saying "Ooops, sorry. Please hand the cash then" - as they knew that the city wouldn't want them to go into insolvency because of the stadium.
The clubs directly competing with Dresden didn't have that luxury.

Its not about the other clubs, its about Dresden. As you said, the city needs the team, hopefully they'll get a seat on the board and seek changes in the operations.

Of course it's also about the other clubs. It's not as if they exist in a vacuum. It's not as if they are in this situation thorigh bad luck - if they had actually acted resposible they'd either have a cheaper team now (one they could actually finance without tax payer's money) or the club would be bankrupt, which would take them out of the fight for a qualification spot. The city was stupid enough to agree to a new stadium, but this doesn't exactly make them heroes.
