My impression is that Bobby is trying to fit himself into the needs of Tottenham. His words were couched in the phrasing that at Tottenham he would prefer to play left midfield. Not where would he prefer to play in general. He mentioned willingness to play where ever there was a need. I think he just wants minutes to play.

For DC he probably wanted to run the show because he noticed that there was a great need for someone to do it.

i think he said it b/c he is a realist. There is no way he is playing the middle there. He might need to show some assists there as well.
