For a majority of the match Shalke was the better team.
Only because Barcelona took the foot off the gas in a criminal manner that so much would have deserved punishment later when Schalke had all these chances.

No, Barcelona underperformend, just like they have been doing all season long in their league. Plus, they were missing quite a few "key" players. You could see how nervous they got in the second half.

As we couldnīt score against KSC I wasnīt that optimistic to begin with, but yeah..we created chances enough to score at least once, Neuer made a slight mistake which was a bit unlucky.
Funny enough I get the feeling that all pressure now moves to Barca while we can enjoy making things difficult for them so we got nothing to loose really..:D

Pretty much, I expect a more open game from Shalke in Spain. Hopefully they can score and make brilliant majestical Barca sweat a bit before they meet their maker in the semis.

Did you really watch this match from the first minute??? Barcelona had some awesome periods of ball possession in the first half. Then Schalke got into it and Barcelona took the foot off the gas. Period.

We showed them to much respect in the beginning...when we got stuck in things got easier.
That said it doesnīt get "easy" against Barca really, not when a CL-title is what they can hope for this season.

Yes I did and I still think Shalke were the better team for the majority of the game. Barcelona started well and got an early goal but after that Shalke settled in, took control of the game and preasured Barca until the last minute. Barca only had one or two chances in the second half.

Barca was clearly better before the interval (it seems that the hosts got shocked by the unlucky 0:1) ... but Schalke managed to improve in the 2nd half, creating a few really good scoring opportunities (unfortunately they couldn't convert them). The fighting spirit was great, but your guys simply didn't play good enough to put them under real pressure. Too much bad passing in my eyes, nearby Kuranyi was awful!
Barca wasn't as good as they had been at Celtic Park (no wonder, since they had to replace Messi, Ronaldinho & Deco) ... but it finally was enough to get the away win again. Schalke will have a nice Barcelona trip at least. ;)
PS: Manuel Neuer is a guy between "Genie & Wahnsinn"! Unfortunately, tonight he showed his worse half again...

Don't think so. Barca was the technically clearly better team (well, that's no surprise) and dominated & controlled the first half.

wow
first of all, the commentator pissed me right off...whole time he was talking about how schalke isnt good enough and what not... but toher then that, i thought we played well.
taking in consideration that the players were nervous being in the quarters od champions league for first time vs barca, im sure they had butterflys but they managed to do ok.
to bad we didnt score one or 2 with so many chances, we need to finish and larsen needs to learn how to head the ball.
Altintop played awesome i though, to bad we didnt play the whole 90 minutes strong, we started playing good soccer later on in the first half and thats what caused us

I think Schalke had a good game.....this is Barcelona we are talking about (even in the absence of Messi and Ronaldinho and Deco), it's still one of the best teams in the world....their goal was lucky and it could have been avoided, and if the 1st half finished 0-0, i think Schalke would have won 1-0 and this could have made the return leg very interesting.....now Schalke have an almost "impossible" mission in Kamp Nu but nothing is impossible for german teams as we all know and that's why we all like them......i think we should not blame Neuer for everything, he had a mistake but all the players also were afraid in the 1st 30 minutes of the game (like they are playing against a monster)....Slomka had some bad changes also with Kuranyi going out early (Asamoah was supposed to go out instead)......Kuranyi could have scored the header if he was instead of Larsen who missed badly and in a strange way !!!!

Schalke did their best and played a good game imo. Barca confirmed they are the big favourites now, but Schalke can be pleased with their performance and who knows, if they can score an early goal in Camp Nou the whole tie could be open again...

Much respect to Shalke they didn't go down easily they held on for a good amount of time, I notice second half Shalke started to come alive. Do you guys think some of the yellow cards the ref was giving out were deserved? I don't know that ref seem to be giving the yellows like water towards the end of the halfs

Well, the refs tend to have their own agendas...
As for Schalke we will not go down without fighting and as we basically are a counterattacking team I look forward to the game in Barcelona.

Depends on what players we use...with Jones back in the team in Barca the midfield will play a leading role.

This evening in Barcelona Schalke has to fight and not to watch what the Barca players do.
