Don't you think both of them would have left Twente anyway?
BTW Rutten is a different story than Engelaar. Rutten is local, played for us as a footballer for over 15 years, managed us for four years over two different periods, still lives locally. So Rutten leaving hurts a helluvalot more than Engelaar leaving, he's a club icon.

Manuel Neuer broke his foot in a test match and will be out for 3 months.
Itīs a bit early to say...1-3 month is normal but Neuer is young and might heal fast.
Anyway, Schober is competent and experienced so it will not affect us that much.

He seems to do a lot of standing back and observing. Rutten's assistant managers are still here, they seem to be taking the lead, so not much will change initially I reckon. I do have a feeling we won't be playing a 4-3-3 - that's Rutten's favourite system as you'll soon find out!
Are you happy with Rutten so far then?

Of course. He kicked some asses already. Seems to be a tad more tough on the players than Slomka was, which is good thing I believe. While his announced tactical superiority in comparison to german coaches has still to seen.
Since I was a great fan of Stevens, Mulder, de Kock, van Hoogdalem and Eijkelkamp he's in my good book anyway. I can't wait for the new season. He has a decent squad at Schalke. Hope he makes the best out of it.

I'm sure he will but he needs to be given a bit of time - I don't mean years, but a couple of months. We intially were shockingly rubbish under Rutten's leadership but it took him less than three months to sort things out. It's great for you in that respect that he's brought Engelaar with him, he's a natural leader on the pitch and knows exactly how Rutten wants to play. Good luck for the new season!

Two defeats in the first four/five games and he will be questioned. Not top 5 in december and he will be fired. Schalke is the incarnation of impatience since the so called 4-minutes-championship. The fans have high expectations since the increasing financial advance & player salaries took place. No one is willing to accept that clubs with far less financial potentials are in front of Schalke at the table anymore. If that happens, maybe Mueller should be fired, but I'm afraid Rutten would have to swallow that bug. Personally I think they should keep Rutten and hire Allofs in such a kind of scenario. Only that Allofs would not be available...
Or they should hire Dexter Morgan to sort things out :D

It would take a major disaster to keep us out of the top five considering the players we got compared to an average bundesliga team so Iīm not buying that scenario...:D
If we look to money being spent on wages we are second to Bayern so I guess most of us sort of feel that we own that spot..which is kinda tragic really because we often end up as second in the table as well.

That was really embarrassing. The score sheet was too. First I thought they played with only the youngsters and some players from the B-squad, but they didn't. Well, the good thing is, things can only get better from now on, do they? I kind of envy the good work at Werder...

Donīt take the result too serious, Schalke is only some weeks
in training, while the 3.Liga starts soon. In preperation there can happen
crazy games, when teams are in different fitness/team finding phases.

yeah it's better to lose a game like this before the season starts. sometimes it gives more motivation to the players. but EE is right...
we only played teams lower than 4. league.. but also we have many international players who start traning very late.

Iīm actually convinced that our youth players would have done much better..Like Wuppertal they would have been highly motivated
Since Neuers injury some regular players are holding back a little...
But anyway, as Rutten put it, playing well in 30 mins is not enough unless we score...
Glasgow Rangers on Saturday will be a much better test I believe!

Schalke looked pretty good yesterday against Rangers, to the extent that Scottish papers are now writing the club into the European elite;)

Well, to my surprise we have established us a regular top team in the bundesliga during the last decade, but European elite is taking it a bit to far...Not that I would mind us becoming a force in Europe :D
