As we close in on the start of the CCC, D.C. will need to make several decisions on several areas that need to be filled.

1) Who will play right midfielder in Ben's absence?
Kirk
Quaranta
McTavish
Moose

2)Who will be goalkeeper?
Wells
Carvallo

In the next 4 days, these issues will need to be addressed and I would like to hear your input on this situation.

I can't really make an informed decision without having seen any of them play this preseason, but my gut says that Soehn will start Quaranta and Wells.

Wells was signed for the starting role. I'd think it's his to lose until he royally screws up or Carvallo really shows him up in practice for an extended period.

(I still miss Troy. I really, really do.)

Seems like Tino has something going in the limited time he's seen thus far. I might say Kirk, but with his youth it's seems like he's more fitted for a sub role . Don't want to throw out the young kids in the first leg on the road for the most part.

I'll wait to hear about Tino's hammy before I guess who starts where. From all I've read both GK's are equally good and pushing each other. That's a good problem to have.

I agree with Chico - the goalies are pick 'em at this point, and that's a good thing.

McT won't start - he's THE backup for something like 4 or 5 spots, so it makes sense to keep him on the bench for when you need him. I think right mid will come down to either Quaranta or Kirk.

Until i see them with my own eyes i have no right to talk, because i only would be using other peoples opinions on who to play. Only time will tell, but i also feel that quaranta will start if his hamstring is feeling ok. Homeboys gotta learn how to stretch better before a game.

Since all 4 guys have been on this team and practicing (Carvallo, Wells, Quaranta, Kirk), i have only seen one practice. In that practice, Carvallo looked better than Wells and Kirk looked better than Q. Quaranta is definitely fitter than in the past, but he did nothing in the practice i watched. Of course it was only ONE practice, so that's the problem. But add to that fact that Kirk does not appear to be nursing an injury and has also seems to have been a bit more productive in the preseason games ..... well, I would be inclined to start Kirk. Having said that, I'm sure that Q will get the start if he is anywhere close to 100%.

Since historically, Mediate has played this position for us more often than Moose or McTavish, I'd add him to the list.

Agreed.

As for the goalies, I'd play one in each leg against HV and see how they react.

If Quaranta's healthy, I'd put him there. If not, I suppose we go with Kirk.

Do we have a scouting report on Harbour view? I'm assuming we win this game pretty easily, but I don't know much about the opponent.

Don't assume anything. They're in season form

They'll undoubtedly be bigger, probably faster, and surely in better condition. So assume nothing.

Yeah...I think a lot of people assumed we'd beat that USL2 team in the Open Cup last season...I even assumed that we couldn't lose to Chicago AGAIN right?
