Obviously we need to do one thing at a time, but what do you all think about designing some BB clothing to sell on the website? We could make t's,hoodies and hats which would advertise an raise money for the group. I would like to see if any of you can put up some good designs in this thread, grazie.

This is a great way to get the Borough Boys name out there. I think it's a great idea.

Cheapest way - no warehousing, no penalty for small orders, etc is cafe press. Once upon a time there quality was dodgy, but they aren't doing iron ons any longer, they are direct printing which increases the longevity of the item.
The SoB store (http://www.cafepress.com/sonsofben) on cafepress is a good money generator for us.

I've used cafepress to print shirts for my company and for WC2006. I'm actually wearing one today and they are still in pretty good condition.

You can also give Eurosport a try(soccer.com). I just got my new magazine today and they were advertising screen printed t-shirts, hoodies, and some other stuff like that. The prices were pretty cheap too. If you go thru them, you can also look at orange and blue jerseys that you can customize with maybe a '10 on the back or Borough Boys.

The difference there is either you have to do strictly a pre-order or take the risk of carrying stock that no one will buy.

I think apparel is a great idea: it both raises money and advertises the supporter's club. We can do a few things at different times if we take different responsibilities. Do we have a good graphic designer among us???

I like the t-shirt, but if part of the idea is to be a walking advertisement for soccer in NYC, it's a little obscure.

This is obviously not the "ideal" shirt that we all know we will make.
(I'm making one with our badge on it right now).
This is a playful idea that we could make later on.
Just relax my friend....
This is more for our hardcore members who understand the references,
not as a walking advertisement.

you should be careful when it comes to likenesses, quotes, etc from various types of media ... copyright infringement and all that legal stuff. best thing to do, in my experience, would be to use your borough boys logo to the fullest extent, get THAT to become synonymous with your group and your efforts.

you guys aren't understanding me.....
This is just for fun...
WE ALL KNOW the type of shirt we will make to advertise ourselves to the rest of new york.
This was just something I did for fun.....our hardcore and original members will appreciate this....
but we know that our Badge is the way to go....

Well...if we don front and back...it's going to be expensive...
But if we do have a back...i say we go with ultravolta's
MLS2NYC idea....with the website at the bottom.

There really is no need to get prickly and defensive. Seriously. If we're going to be sharing ideas with one another and making group decisions, we all need to trust one another's motivations here.

Yeah, I think so. Also make it obvious this is soccer related. I see a small soccer ball at the bottom of the badge image (and it's a great image for an established team), but it wouldn't be obvious to people outside our group that this is a soccer supporter's club.
