Terry is better than Gallas and Agger combined as well.

Agger over Toure, Carragher and Distin??

I agree with the other four but what's with the Agger love?

I don't rate Toure that highly. He can be good but is simply not consistent enough and is prone to making stupid errors at times. Carragher is a stopper and one of the icons of his team which means people will easily forget about whatever mistakes he makes. He is afforded the added protection of a defensive midfielder. All of this applies to Terry as well. Now normally I would have Carragher above Terry but the former has started to fade in terms of Premiership games and I would have them about equal now. Both a very good at what they do but what they do is limited. Distin is playing well but I don't think he touches any of the aforementioned players.

I rate Agger because he is (a) a very good all-round defender, (b) enables Carragher to play his normal game, and (c) contributes to the team moving forward.

I don't agree with your comments about Toure but I'm hardly the guy to change your mind so that's fine. Out of curiosity, how did you rate Campbell when he was in his prime, considering he was a stopper as well?

Both Ferdinand and Gallas have more lapses in judgement than Toure and toure has been arsenal's most consistent defender for years. He had a poor Africans Cup but for Arseanl he has been solid.

The ten best, according to yours truly (the order isn't something I'm super sure about, just my rough estimation):

1. Alessandro Nesta (Italy & AC Milan)
2. Philipp Lahm (Germany & Bayern Munich)
3. Rio Ferdinand (England & Manchester United)
4. Cristian Chivu (Romania & Inter Milan)
5. Sergio Ramos (Spain & Real Madrid)
6. Kolo Toure (Ivory Coast & Arsenal)
7. Per Mertesacker (Germany & Werder Bremen)
8. Carles Puyol (Spain & Barcelona)
9. Martin Demichelis (Argentina & Bayern Munich)
10. William Gallas (France & Arsenal)
