Apparently, at the YWCO, they are having practice/pick-up games on Thursday night around 6:30-7:00. Usually, there are pick-up game opportunities on Mondays and Wednesdays after 7, but I have yet to see a whole bunch of people come out for them. Of course, there is the intramural fields off of College Station Rd. where there are numerous pick-up games (some rather taken TOO seriously). Also, there are games at Bishop Park on the northside of Athens. There will be a fall La Liga League (not sure when it will start) and a 7-a-side league at the YWCO. I have heard rumblings and rumors about the ACC Rec. Dept. putting on something at the new Southeastern Park possibly a league, but it's not confirmed. Well, anyone with rants, news or anything else to add, feel free to put it right here! I'll talk to you all later!

Should be fewer kids around than the last 2 weeks from now on. I wouldn't mind MWF, Thursday is bad for me now.

La Liga starts in about a month.

ACC does PLAN on having something for adults in the Fall. I here 6 games may or may not have playoff/tournament, $250. About the same as the Ywco per game. A little less if you don't make the play-offs. It should be very recreational, and almost certainly co-ed is my guess. Lisa should be the one taking sign-ups. They plan on playing Sunday afternoon as their evenings are packed during Fall.

Well the Indys forfeited to the Navy School and and Angelos pipped the Feelgoods 5-4.

Angelos play Pollo Loco is it in the next round so I suppose the Navy School will play the Flyers team.

Well thats about it.

Does anyone know if ANYONE will be up at the YWCO between 6:30-7:00 for some pick-up soccer?

Well, I had to start this post with a positive spin. We had 11-13 people at the Y yesterday afternoon. A pretty good start I must say. I found some info on the Leisure Dept.'s Adult Soccer League. Here it is:

Adult Soccer
Recreational program. Seven a side co-ed teams will play
six (6) games at Southeast Clarke Park on Sundays.
Ages: 18 & over
Program Dates: August 24 – October 5
Time: Noon – 6:00 p.m.
Location: Southeast Clarke Park
Registration: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. –
4:30 p.m. at Bishop Park
Deadline: August 8, 2003
Fee: $250 per Team

August 8th MIGHT be a misprint. For more info, I would call the Public Info. office at 613-3625. Well, I guess I'll talk to you all later on! I'll see you all on Wednesday or Thursday!

Plan is for me and another 5 or 6 guys to go down to GSA and play some small sided games around 2 on sunday. May be a bit far for you to travel though.

14 - 16 people showed up and we had a good time playing. Tonight, there will be a pick-up game at the Y probably starting around 7 tonight. There was some talk about maybe organizing some pick-up games on Friday and quite possibly late Sunday afternoon. It's all up in the air for those 2 days though. Maybe if we got some chatter on the thread, we can work something out. Oh, Semifinal playoffs for Co-ed 7-A-Side will take place with these games:

3:00 Full Moon Flyers vs. Navy School
4:00 Pollo Loco vs. Angelo's

Good Luck to the 4 teams above. I heard through the grapevine that the YWCO will have a Adult Soccer League starting in mid-September. One should call the Y at (706) 354-7880 for more info.

Also, there are people going to Bishop Park on Sunday afternoons (not sure of the times they meet though. Info please?) :o) And, there are pick-up games going on all the time at the Intramural Fields of UGA located off of College Station Rd. Well, that's all I have to say. I'll talk to you all later!
