Not nominated were Linke and Deisler (there were speculations about a return of the two) and Kuranyi. The real surprises are Rahn and maybe Hartmann staying in the team.

Ballack is almost certainly ruled out according to Hitzfeld with a calf injury

and.....

Why isn't Kuranyi nominated !!

Some Coaches already complained - Hitzfeld regarding Ballack, Stevens regarding Friedrich and Bobic and Magath regarding not nominating Kuranyi. You can guess that the three mentioned ones plus some others (Ramelow is insecure already for this weekend) won't be available next week.

And taking a look at the others... nobody of the defenders plus goalie Kahn is in a good shape. The midfield includes substitute player Jeremies and with Kehl someone who has lacking playing time due to his suspension.

But fair conditions as Italy's season didn't even start...

Germany vs Italy 0-1 FT

First half belonged to Italy that IMO got a correct goal whistled offside. Germany dominated the second half due to Italy's players being exhausted in their pre-season. Several excellent chances were missed, Jeremies hit the cross bar and a pk was not rewarded for Germany (Klose).

I thought the Italians looked exhausted too, there was one point in the second half were Buffon was sitting against his post and looked about to collaspe, and he's the keeper!

Germany were a bit unlucky not to get an equaliser, and they were also unlucky not to get a penalty, but I think Klose could have scored from there anyway.
