Hello to DC United supporters from Spurs!

I have read some of the thread below containing your reactions to the agreed transfer of BC to us - most of you seem to agree he is a fantastic player.

What is his best position in your opinion? We have weaknesses on the left in defence (whether wing back or left back) and in midfield. Will he fill one of those positions well?

Good luck with your season.

He's played most of his games on the left side of midfield, but towards the end of last season and the beginning of this season he's moved into the middle of the field. I, personally, believe he plays better in the middle and so does he. He plays there for the US youth national teams and has gotten a few chances there with the full national side. It'll be interesting to see how he'll play with more than just a few teammates who make runs and with forwards that can finish.

He's a fair-to-good tackler. When he first started playing for us he didn't play defense, but he's worked hard to better that aspect of his game. He can improve, but he's good at getting back and helping out on defense now.

But he was 16 at the time...

Bobby at least knows what his weaknesses are and will work to improve them. Give him some time to get adjusted and he will shine.

well, beartooth wilderness for 15 days. I'm just a little bummed because he was my favorite player right now. And caffeine doesnt make you mad, just hyper and then depressed, sort of like the history of DC United.

Our manager has apparently said that if his work permit is approved he will be in the starting 11 on Saturday against Birmingham.

Thanks for the information guys - I am a season ticket holder at Spurs and will drop some updates on his progress on here for you, as and when.

Thank you, and good luck with the season.

I remember his first start against Columbus. Warzycha, who was twice Bobby's age, had hacked him a few times and then the two of them went up for a header and Convey threw a shoulder into him.

Hoddle speaks about Convey. No word on weather or not Hoddle is locking up his daughters.

Wow, that's hard to believe. Convey was at RFK Stadium signing autographs last night, so he'd arrive in London this evening, at the earliest, or on Friday morning. That'd leave him little time for acclimation and practice with new teammates. You'd have to be in dire straits on the left side of the field to throw someone into the first XI that quickly in those circumstances.

We do have a few problems with injuries at the moment. If he is still there I suspect they know his work permit won't be finalised in time.....Hoddle is talking him up.

Looking forward to seeing him play now - if he gets stuck in he may be exactly what we need.

I'll hold Dadman to those beers......he may regret the offer though!!

I don't have the credit limit to buy beer for a single Spurs supporter until they're under the folding seats, but I'll stand you one. ;) None of the Moderators (or former Mods, John_Harkes_6!) has ever taken me up on it, but offering to by a beer is in the time-honored tradition of hospitality around here. Right, guys?

(Checks wallet)
Guys?

(crickets chirping)

Um, do you like Schaeffer? Wiedemann's? Iron (ulp) City?

You can check some of the other threads for all of Bobby's pro's and con's. As for me, I think you're club is picking up one hell of a talent. Bobby has really shined here for DC and for our national team. Bobby is young and works hard. We're gonna miss him here. Even though I support Arsenal, I'm going to keep an eye on the Spurs this year. Good luck.

Bobby Convey is a decent player, not a Landon Donovan. Plays well on the wings and is fast. It's great that he is going to the PL because he will fit into the type of play. If anything, he will benefit from the speedier play and will definitely help. I'm just proud to see another American playing overseas.
