Hey I was just thinking.

Milan will need a new right back next year. Think they might bid for Eboue? :D

Just finished watching the spuds-PSV match. If Fabianski doesn't float your boat as a long-term Almunia replacement, I suggest Gomes from PSV. Incredibly athletic, quick, throws a round ball farther than most NFL quaterbacks throw an (american) football. I'm more impressed every time I see him.

Possibly, if only he was a little younger though...

I'm more interested in Afellay from PSV.

Gomes is only 27, which is still pretty young for a keeper.

I think Almunia ranks somewhere between a good and very good keeper. I wouldn't mind if Wenger brought in a truly world class keeper, but I don't see him splashing the cash for one.

IIRC, the guy that recommended buying Petr Cech also recommended Fabianski. That's enough for me to want to give him a bit of tim to see what he can do.

I immediatly thought of Squeezebox - The Who, not the hokey pokey when I read the title. I wonder if Arsenal has some new guy hazing like chelski's karaoke? We have heard Ade thinks Cesc is a poor dancer. I wonder if we have young dancing school scounts around the world? What the hell am I still writing about? We all know not even dancing scouts could guess of any signings we might have.

News of the world (take that for what its worth) has linked us with a Spanish "Prodigy" from Athletico Madrid. Ignacio Camacho Barnola who just turned 18 last week is a central midfielder who recently made his first team debut, starting and playing 68 minutes against Barcelona.

Here is the article:
" ARSENE INTERESTED IN SPANISH PRODIGY

ARSENE Wenger has hotted up his interest in another Spanish prodigy — Ignacio Camacho.
The Arsenal boss has ordered a full report on the progress of the midfielder, who turned 18 on Friday. He made his full debut for Atletico Madrid last week and looks a star. "

Heres his pic:

Apparently we are going to make a club record breaking offer to Cesc over the summer. One of those FIFA contract loopholes kicks in next summer and he would be able to buyout the remainder of his contract, so we are getting ready to tie him down with a deal that should put him up there with Gerrard, Terry etc. - according to that most trusted site (starts with a t, ends with a we-make-most-of-this-stuff-up)

If this is true, and that's what it takes, then I guess we have to do it. He is probably our most marketable player, so his contract may end up paying for itself in the long run.

Well Wenger did say that he will discuss a new contract with cesc if we win something:

I don’t think this is the time to talk about contract situations, especially when a player is under a long contract. I believe let’s first win something, in Europe or domestically, then you are in that league.

Cesc is still a bit young. You want him to develop as a player, the rest will follow. We want Cesc to develop as a complete midfielder, more of what you saw against Milan on Tuesday night – that he can defend and attack. That performance was most pleasing but the next step is to do that all the time.

He's ok...

The only reason to replace Almunia, though, is with a truly world class keeper (which I want), and Neuer is not that - at least not any time soon.

If he wants to try to win the Germany job and such, he needs to stay at a place where he can start every week, play at a level where he can succeed, etc. Arsenal and the BPL is not that.
