Lita on 1-month loan to Charlton Athletic (http://www.readingfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10306~1256983,00.html)
Understandable, I suppose. Who's Reading's 4th striker now?
I was a little slow with this post. Please merge. Thanks

I wasn't aware that we had a third striker. Long has been almost absent with only 2 goals and 6 shots on goal. I don't think he counts. Hunt has been more of an attacking presence than Long has.

Good point. Suppose Long were injured -- who would then become our almost-absent striker not being much of an attacking presence?

That sucks. I was really hoping to see him break into the starting line-up after that mini-run he had with the reserves.
Coppell is showing him no respect. I wonder what he did to piss him off.

Well after injuring himself with an over zealous yawn and then the whole self initiated sex video scandal he didn't really start the season on the right foot, did he? Then there was also the issue of not doing squat when he was given a chance.

He's definately not the sharpest tool in the shed, but how may footballers can you say that about? When was the last time Coppell gave him a chance? How many games has Doyle, Kitson and Long gone without scoring a goal?
The Royals are thin up top and now we're giving Lita away for a month? We're f**cked if Doyle or Kitson get hurt. Who would be bring forward? Hunt? Kebe?
Sad state of affairs IMO.

I was ready to give Lita the benefit of the doubt until I saw this piece on Sky Sports (http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11673_3243943,00.html). Seriously Lita you can't play football, at least not in the EPL until you grow up. In fact I'd say the only mistake Coppell made was not showing him the door and using his head to open it.
He should at least have brains enough not to publicly slag the club and manager who have given him chance after chance after chance.

I watched the video clip and maybe something got lost in the translation from English to American English, but I thought that was pretty tame. What he said in the video (which didn't make it into the article) when asked if he had any ill feelings towards Coppell, was a dismissive " No, you couldn't meet a nicer guy". That's hardly slagging the manager or "lashing out" at the club, as the article title states, in my book.
Still would have liked to have seen him break into the starting lineup after several weeks without goals from either Kitson or Doyle, and the problem still remains, we have a very short list of forwards. Hopefully no one will get hurt, or the Royals are going to be in a world of hurt.

It's too bad that the virtual world doesn't equal the real world. Whenever I use Reading in FIFA 08 I can't keep Lita from scoring. But Pablo makes a good point, during the losing streak I can't remember Lita even making the bench. Either he wasn't putting in the proper work during training, or Coppell does have soemthing against him. After 9 straight losses I can't think of a reason to not put him out there at least for a chance, especially after performing well for the reserves.

Well whatever Coppell's reason for not playing Lita it could have been something personal or more likely something he saw (or didn't see) in training. Unfortunately unless Lita leaves I don't think we'll ever see the real reason, of course if he plays well at Charlton he might finish the rest of the season in style.
Bennett is now out on loan as well and according to the Sky preview for tomorrow's match the boys look good after their win at Blackburn last weekend!

The answer to our striker dilemma (http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11673_3253167,00.html) - OK so it might not help this season.

95 goals in 40 games?!?! Put him in the starting 11 now. ;)

It was great to see the strikers more active and successful in the ManCity match. Long scores an important goal (set up by Doyle who was an attacking presence and might have had one of his own). And our 3rd striker, Kitson, comes off the bench to seal the win. Hunt, as usual, was a presence as well. Anyway, nice to see the strikers once again striking.
By the way, Lita went 90 in Charlton's 1-2 loss to Preston. Here's the only mention in the report (http://soccernet.espn.go.com/report?id=220581&cc=5901&league=ENG.2) I saw:
Debutant Leroy Lita showed a rare moment of desire with 20 minutes remaining when he barged past Youl Mawene to rattle in a 25-yard drive, but Jones was on hand to block.
I think the "rare moment" comment was poking at the team rather than singling out Lita.

It was nice to see the strikers doing their job. I hope this is a sign of things to come. We will need it Saturday. I am hoping that Lita can really kick it into gear at Charlton and come back ready to kick ass to finish the season.

If the strikers continue their current form I believe Lita will not be with us past the summer window. There is something going on with him and I believe it is his head. With his play over the summer in the U-20 he may have gotten a bit complacent and forgot that he is playing in the best league in the world and cannot rely on his ability alone. That coupled with some off field blunders I believe Coppell finally had enough and is giving Lita this chance to assess his career and realize that he needs to buckle down and get his butt in gear. He may be too much of a head case for that but I hope he can straighten out because when he is at his best he is a tremendous asset to the team. I can't think of any other reason that Coppell would take the risk and go with just 3 strikers unless he felt he needed to do something with Lita for the good of the team.
I hope Lita can get his head out of his butt and rejoin the team with renewed vigor. If he cannot, hopefully we can get something for him during the summer transfer window.

Lita's Loan has been extended to the end of the season. (http://www.readingfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10306~1275103,00.html) However, we added a call back clause just incase. I've seen he has started 3 times for them but hasn't scored yet. Does anyone know how he is doing there?

Well if the football doesn't work out for him, on the basis of the best ever Lita video he can start working in another industry.

I watched Lita play in the Charlton/Wolves game the other day. Even in the championship, he struggled through the entire game. It looked as if he didn't care. Lita must improve greatly to be in Coppell's squad for next year.

You didn't mention that he scored (tying up a game that Charlton ended up losing 2-3)... and celebrated like he'd just won the FA Cup. He does like to take his shirt off...
