So after participating in the original movie draft on here 2 years ago (or whenever it was), i started drafts at the school i work at... I have completed 3 so far: another movie draft, an all-time song draft, and a 1990's song draft...
i found out I am the movie dork compared to the majority of those who i work with --although BS would be shocked to see the first round of movies, even i was shocked at how bad they were - i received no votes on either the movie or the all-time song draft, but as voting closes tonite, i am in a tie for second on the 90's draft...

since i started running drafts a year ago here, several co-workers have started their own drafts with family mailing lists and on other webboards...

so, I was wondering, is this phenomenon continuing on other boards with other people as well?
and from where did it originate?
did GringoTex come up with it himself?

I think the first non-athletic draft here on BigSoccer was the April 2004 Beautiful Women Draft (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2301733&postcount=1), begun by pc4th.

And I'm proud to say I was there.

I think the first movie draft came up shortly after Norsk Troll started the book draft in the books forum.

My favorite one to participate in was one in which I wasn't invited - the Fictional Faculty Draft. I had my own rebel draft that shaded the real one - that's the way I should do all of these drafts from now on. :)

I did some kind of draft where you pick people to play classic roles.

I did a rap draft

I did a book draft (pretty decent finish in that one)

I did a building/architecture draft (did well in that one)...

I did some kind of well-rounded woman draft...

Started and dropped out of some other film draft.

Did part of an art draft that kept stalling out.

Did the 80s album draft.

Did the 70s album draft.

Did this last song draft.

Did a fictional faculty (school) draft.

There was some draft that I started but nobody told me that they had actually begun... something weird happened like that. And then it was over before I knew it. I think it was another rap draft.

OH! I did a classical draft!

Sounds like Iceblink is ready for the Draft Draft, where people pick their favorite drafts.

I swear that crossed my mind as I typed.

I was in Gringo's movie draft and the "well-rounded women" draft.

That's it, as far as I can remember.

Let's see: rap songs, best albums of the 2000s, plus USA drafts 2-4...

Still think there needs to be a music video draft.

now that is an idea i like... i would be down for that one...

would we need to base it solely on the video or the song as well?

I was in the hot women's draft and the well-rounded women's draft.

I've enjoyed observing the music and movie drafts, although I'll admit I'm nowhere near the expert that many of you seem to be.

Of course (minus the women's drafts), I think I enjoyed the architecture and faculty drafts the most of any of the drafts.

Has there ever been a tv show draft? That's another one I could probably participate in. Of course, I haven't watched much tv created before the 70s.

Sounds like Iceblink is ready for the Draft Draft, where people pick their favorite drafts.I think you are referring to the Fictional 'fictional draft' draft (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=313227).

One of the ones not mentioned above that was one of my favourites: The Animal Draft (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=170270&highlight=draft).

In addition to the two Movie drafts, there was also a Director Draft (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=498979&highlight=draft)

Another draft started by GringoTex that never really took off: The BigSoccer Arab & Jew Draft (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=387334&highlight=draft)

I unfortunately missed the first movie draft, but did the 2nd. I spent the whole time thinking "I bet those mo-rahns" forgot to pick x and I will slip it in.

I don't think it ever worked out.

The only one I can remember doing is the Well-Rounded Women draft. Maybe I did the hip hop draft too.

I'm abstaining until the inevitable "draft draft". I've already got my top 3 picked!

I would say mostly based on the videos, because otherwise it's no different than a song draft. Obviously though the song plays a role.
