I'm putting together some materials for a new Shakespeare unit, and I've found loads of great stuff on Youtube. Unfortunately, Youtube is blocked in our county. Is there any way to save the videos from Youtube onto a flashdrive?

Thanks

I use Mozilla, and save Youtube vids via one of their add-ons - you can find some here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search?q=video+downloader&status=4

Save them as .flv files and replay them through a FLV Player. That's easy enough to find, too.

OK, I feel like an idiot, but I can't figure this out for the life of me. I downloaded Flash Video Resources Downloader from your link, and I realize I will need to download an FLV player, but how exactly does one go about saving the Youtube videos? The Youtube page didn't look at all different from how it previously appeared (I apologize for my general tech-ineptitude.)

What exactly do I click on?

Thanks!

I'm going to guess that by "county," Jacen means "county school district." I could be wrong, but I'd bet tickets to a Shakespeare play and an online porn subscription on that being his meaning. My employer blocks YouTube, as do a lot of employers. Including Jacen's employer, apparently.

Ahh, that makes sense. I was thinking he had moved to some third world dictatorship and forgot to update his "location"!!

I use "Download Helper" for Firefox, and FLV player. DownloadHelper puts a little button to the right of the address bar that becomes active when there is embedded flash video that can be downloaded. It works on more than just YouTube.

If you install the most recent version of the RealPlayer, it gives you the ability to save YouTube (and any other Flash) video and it is dead easy to use. It just gives you a little popup on top of any video and lets you save it with a click.

There are a few websites that will allow you to download youtube videos to your hard drive. You just enter in the URL of the youtube video and then the website will convert the video into an flv file. I forgot the exact one I used before but just google 'save youtube videos' and you'll see a few websites.

I use "Any VIdeo COnverter", you just copy and paste the URL and it downloads it for you, then you can convert it into any video file you want. Well, not any, but there are all the big ones(.avi, .mpg, etc.). Also, it's freeware.

Video DownloadHelper (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006) add-on for Firefox. It lets you save anything that you are viewing.

Then get a free .flv player, too.
