Hey there,
I'm finally able to post this!!!
For the past two seasons, I have attended a number of Real Salt Lake games here on the East Coast.
During those games, I have noticed many Real Salt Lake fans at the games. Unfortunately, they are oftentimes scattered around the stadium. Nor is there an organized Supporters section at those games. Thus nobody is there to cheer for and act as the "12th man" for Our Team when they come out here to play on the East Coast. I would like to remedy this problem.
I'm trying to organize a Real Salt Lake Supporter's Club for fans who reside on the East Coast. While you have the Loyalists and the Rogue Cavalier's Brigade in Utah, there is a great need for such an organization here.
One of the names I've come up with is the East Coast Elite. Although this is just a working title, I feel the name encompasses the group's potential as an elite, well organized group of supporters who are willing to show up in large numbers to support their team.
Our Main Goal is to have large numbers of RSL fans standing behind our players at every away game. With our unstoppable cheering and support we can bring the team to success.
One method by which we can bring this to fruition is to encourage fans in these areas to organize their own local chapters.
This way, when Real Salt Lake comes to play in their area, a sizable Supporter's Section will be present at the stadium.
I'll post more later. Feedback is appreciated and let me know who is interested.

So Here Are More Ideas:
We all start forming our own local Real Salt Lake Supporters Clubs (RSL SC) in our areas.
It doesn't have to be an official club like the Loyalists or the RCB. You don't need get a website or anything fancy. Even if your club only has three members, form a club, give it a name, and start preparing for the games.
(i.e. Provo RSL SC, Sandy RSL SC, Chicago RSL SC, New York City RSL SC, etc.)
Once you form your group:
1) Decide on a meetingplace to conduct regular meetings.
This should NOT be in a public place. Your meetingplace should have the least amount of distraction, where you can discuss club business.
2) Decide on a central location where your group can watch the games.
This should be a public place which broadcasts the games. Remember to get permission from the owner of the establishment first.
CONTACT AND COORDINATE WITH OTHER GROUPS IN THE AREA, so you can watch the games at this location together. The more, the merrier.
3) Make a Banner that identifies your group. Be Creative.
At the stadium, it can serve as a rallying point for group members who might be arriving late. You can also hang the banner from the stands. Not only does it say who you are, but it's also great to see it on the television.
4) Practice your chants and songs often. (at both public and private meetingplaces and games)
This gives you the opportunity to familiarize yourselves with the song's lyrics, tunes, etc. As you get more used to singing them among yourselves, you'll become even more comfortable singing them in groups when game day comes.
If anyone has suggestions, feel free to post.

Sounds good to me. I was a east coaster (Florida actually) until recently and felt the same way.
You might want to focus on your immediate area, which I assume most be some where near Boston to DC seaboard.
Good luck.

Very close. New Jersey and about 20 minutes from NYC.
I'm LDS and one method I've been using to get people on board is by networking through my Church. A great number of which are football fans and are more than happy to come and support RSL. We've been playing indoor soccer since January with high attendance every week.
The problem here in the NY/NJ area is that RSL comes to play only once, and always in September. So, in addition to viewing parties, we're going to see about organizing an away trip to DC and/or Boston. (4 hr trip both ways).
Expansion is the key.
How many more East Coast fans are out there?
Chicago? Ohio? Pennsylvania?
Don't be afraid to post.

Great idea.
Former SLC now exiled in NYC. Last year saw RSL in NJ/DC/Fox--and would love to be the company of fellow RSL fans this year. Usually we're scattered & isolated around these stadia. I'm also interested in attending and/or hosting an occasional watch party.

Great to have you aboard.
Let's keep this thread going. Who else is out there.
Anyone in New England? The Chicago area? How about DC?

If possible I will schedule travel to coincide with away matches, so having a list of "likely attenders" in various markets would at least be helpful. And not just for the East coast - any MLS market.

I agree. This needs to be done for all markets.

I live in Western Mass...I don't have capacity to organize/lead/maintain any type of supporter's group, but I am fully expecting to visit Foxboro on 10/4. Might go watch the Red Bulls game on 9/13.

If you are, write me up and we'll get a group together.
And don't worry about starting a huge group. Like I said, even if it's just a few friends meeting someplace to watch the games during the season, it's a start.

In the meantime, I've also come up with a name for Our Section at the away games.
THE HIVE
The name is a homage to Utah's nickname, the Beehive State. The beehive is also an ancient symbol of Industry and resourcefulness.
This should be the spirit for which we we as members of the East Coast Elite (and all RSL supporters) should strive for in Supporting Our Team while they are far from home.
By pooling our individual resources and talents together, we can make ourselves into a very powerful force that can significantly rival other those of other clubs.

WooHoo, Virgin Post!
There will be six of us traveling to the game in DC on April 26th. We already got our tickets before I saw this post, so we might have missed our chance to sit with other RSLers. Last I checked, there were still tickets available near ours. We're on the midfield line behind the away benches. If anyone would like to sit with us and cheer we would be glad to have you.
I'm in NC for most of the season, so if anyone wants to get together to watch games, I'd be up for that as well.
Here's hoping to see you guys at the game!

Hurray for virgin posts! smart of you to stay out of the conversations. I'm sure you can imagine all the time we waste posting on here.:o
Anyhow, I will be there with you at the DC game. My wife and I timed the trip to coincide with an RSL game and to meet friends. PM me so that we can coordinate!

Last chance!
Is there anyone going to the RSL v DCU game (at RFK) that would like to hang out before, during, or after the game. We'll be there cheering our arses off. the FO has offered to help us with some parafanelia (huge flags, etc), so if we have a big enough group it might be worth trying.
Either way, we hope to see a bunch of RSL fans there. If you already have tickets somewhere else, that's cool too. We'll be right behind the away team benches wearing RSL gear so come by and find us.
Go RSL!

I'm kinda bummed...had originally planned on going, but work happened, so unfortunately I'll have to wait till my annual summer pilgrimage to the land of the 3.2 for my first game of the year. I'm definitely heading to the NE and NY games later in the year, so I'd love to meet up with some RSL faithful then.
