Newcastle Utd vs Blackburn

Another home match, this time against Rovers. Kickoff Saturday, March 1 3PM @ SJP. Delayed US broadcast on FSC at 4:30PM EST.

Martins is rumored to be fit for the match. Viduka - some reports say he's fit, others that he'll be missing from the squad. Given most likely out prior to surgery. Emre and Carr uncertain. Owen tells BBC Radio 5 that the team's confidence isn't at its best.

The highest we could go would be up one spot to 12 with a win and favorable results elsewhere. The lowest we could go is 15 with a loss and not-so-favorable results elsewhere.

Blackburn have won at SJP only three times over the last 26 league and cup matchups. Unfortunately, two of those were during the last two seasons.

Ref is Rob Styles.

My prediction: 2-1 Toon, Martins with a brace.

Owen tells BBC Radio 5 that the team's confidence isn't at its best.

So he's captain of the obvious in addition to the club.

Rob Styles sucks. We suck. Blackburn, not so much. I'll hope for a draw but I don't expect anything.

It's showing delayed on FSC in the states.

I'm guessing a tight affair, with the Toon collapsing in the last 15 minutes.

2-0 Blackburn

Ya, my first thought was: "Ok then, go do something about it." Something tells me he doesn't have it in him.

1-0 Newcastle
Harper scores a header on the last corner of the game.

Hell, I don't care where it takes us as long as it's three more points toward safety.

I see you've been using the R3 button on your playstation whilst playing FIFA. Not bad at all Jared.

Keano wanks his dog so by my logic that's 2-1 for us.

Line up

NUFC: Steve Harper, Habib Beye, Jose Enrique, Abdoulaye Faye, Steven Taylor, James Milner, Damien Duff, Nicky Butt, Joey Barton, Michael Owen (c), Alan Smith
Subs: Fraser Forster, Andy Carroll, Oba Martins, Claudio Cacapa, Charles N'Zogbia

Why the hell is Smith still starting over Carroll or Martins.

I like the back line, not crazy about the Butt-Barton CM pair, but I guess only 3 complaints in the starting lineup is not bad these days.

Owen gets played through by Duff, rounds Friedel and puts it wide when it's easier to score. First bit of real action.

********ing hell. We create about 10 decent scoring chances, and it's Derbyshire with the smash-and-grab suckerpunch.

89th Freak'n minute. They couldn't just hold out for the point could they. I still hold that St. Patty's day will be the first points of the "King's" reign.

This is getting beyond a joke now. He may well have been an awesome striker 6 or 7 years ago, but now he can't even convert some of the simplest of chances. Albeit Friedel is a decent keeper, a premier league striker should be scoring these- particularly one with a reputation as huge as Michael Owen's. Let Oba have a crack from the start, we know he can score out of nothing, which let's face it, is what we need, because I just can't see where we're going to get creativity from out of this midfield...
N'Zogbia had been our best player whenever he's played, but Keegan just doesn't want to play him for some reason. I know Duff's been good, but surely he's on his last legs by now... he's not getting any younger whereas Zog has ages left. Sorry, don't mean to go on too much of a rant... it just really annoys me when I see the talent we have, but it just doesn't materialise on the pitch.
It's all very well the commentators saying we're the better team and Owen should have had a hat-trick... but the longer we continue this goal drought, it's no consolation.

Not if the Brummies play like they did today.

Negativity out.

At least we showed we kinda care. Let's build on that.
