looks like UEFA has set a price for the amount clubs who have players at Euro 2008 will get daily.

Any club that has a player on a final 23 man roster of a Euro 2008 team will get 4000 a day, with the amount rising to 5000 for Euro 2012.

It was revealed by Lyon president Aulas.

FIFA did the same at the last tournaments.

The clubs would also profit a bit without the money from sending their players
to the EC, because they could win new fans, if their players do well.
But they have to handle in the new season with tired players,
pay the salaries and take the injury risk (directly or by insurances).

So whether a club has a dozen players on Euro 2008 rosters or just one they get paid the same?

Frankly, no club deserves even a penny.

I should've specified, my fault. It's 4000 euro per player. So the big clubs will make most of the money .

Not simply for having players at the tournament. They should, however, be compensated for players who pick up long term injuries at the competition.

isn't it being split three ways in some cases though?

one third to the club that holds the players registration.
one third to the club that owned the player the previous season.
one third to the club that registered the player up to two seasons previously.

one things for sure though. the price for the player per day is only going to increase as time goes on.

thanks for the information
but it seems like clubs should only get payed if their players get injured, another 4K for the clubs :\... clubs are already profitting a lot from their players with jersey and ticket sales... they're greedy bafoons

That's for sure. I don't see what business it is of the clubs what the players do on their summer vacation. If Messi goes skiing in Chile in July, does the ski resort need to pay Barcelona $4000/day during his ski-trip?

I dont see why clubs should get compensation why do they have priority over country. they might say well we pay them massive wages well thats because there should be a wage cap not the countries fault. many teams make alot of money from sale of shirts with player names on there back. none of the teams that this would go to really need this money for example If rooney got injured at the world cup man u dont need the money they are soon to become richest club in the world again so whats 5000 grand a day gunna do.

If a player is injured or tired for an international match should the clubs pay compensation to the fa for doing this?

clubs are just way to greedy and im fed up with it theres to many matches beeing played as it is asking players to play 50 matches in a season and then a world cup is stupid. the clubs are more at fault then countries an international match is only like 2 together every couple of months and then a major competition its not too much to ask for is it. then greedy scudamore says they are going to do 39th game i mean come on its just greed.

english fans already have to pay more then other countries just for tickets at premierleague and international competitions and to say the clubs need some compensation is stupid the fans need compensation if anything.

Mad2Ad has some very good points.

But who will be paying the clubs? Fifa + Uefa or the National Associations of the country the player plays for.

FIFA and UEFA will be paying the clubs. they've projected on paying out about £130mill over the next 6 years.

of course the figure will rise and rise as clubs ask for more and more in compensation for players. no doubt they'll get it as well....
