Who do you think will win? What will be the scoreline? Who will be the scorers? Mention your opinions here below!
I believe it will be 1-2 Win for the Socceroos but it will be a tough game being 1-1 at half time. I think that Kewell will score and the second will be either Emmo or Viduka.

Really hard call this one.
I would love to see Australia win as Australia is currently Oceania's best chance to perform well in the 2006 WC. That being said I am a big Irish fan after getting married to an Irish women.
Ireland are really, really hard to score against at home so I am going for a 1-1 draw.
Scorers: Keane (IRL) Viduka (AUS)

I am looking forward to this match as I live about 1 hour away & have match tickets.
My wife is Irish as well (Crowdie) but I think that the Aussies will win 2-1.
The Irish team are pretty good but the defence is only average.
Kewell & the boys will be to much.
come on Aussie!!!

Yeah i think the game will be a really tough one. I reckon even harder than the English one. The Irish are so underated like the Socceroos so it will be a blockbuster! I stil stand by my 1-2 win for the Socceroos with the goal scorers still the same. I think Duff or Keane will score the goal for the Irish.
I also still believe that the English match was a blockbuster but leading up to the game i was VERY scared who will play on who and how much we would lose by! I was concerned about Popovic and Kewell but my fears were buried like most others!
I can't wait for September 7th too!

I can't see Australia winning... Not in Dublin. I'm sure Australia will put up more of a fight that some other of our other recent freindly opponents, but I still think the Irish will play with all they've got and run out 2-0 winners.
I don't like the fact that the match is on a Tuesday... Duff, Finnan, Given, O'Brien, Holland, Viduka and Kewell all played today.

That's a big call. The Irish have certainly lacked a bit of stability in the midfield/back since the departure of Roy Keane and with the firepower the Aussies have up front that is certainly a big call.

I agree that is a tough statement to say. However for the Socceroos to beat the Irish they need to shut down Duff & Keane. Whereas the Irish need to shut down Kewell, Emerton and Foxe to win. Socceroos 2-1 winners. But it will be a very equally matched duel.

I Spoke to Brett Emerton Last night in Dublin
( I was at the same hotel as the aussies are staying at ) & he Feels pretty pumped up for the match. He scored a goal in his debut for blackburn 5-1 winners & he also got man of the match.
He was involved in everything & will no doubt play a big part. They should be able to do it.

By the way, what kind of internet coverage is there on the Australian side? Any possible webcasts for those of us who won't be able to see the game?
RTE Radio One might have it - www.rte.ie

This should be a great match. I think these two teams will match up well against eact other.
2-1 for Ireland if Givens play; 2-2 if he's out.
Can someone please post the exact time in any US TZ. thanx

6 a.m. pregame show in Melbourne, on the Seven Network, so that puts it as a 1 p.m. PT/4 p.m. ET Tuesday start in the USA.
By the way, inside joke for our Aussie readers... As long as the game's on Seven, what's the over-under as to when Bruce McAveney will say, "Harry Kewell is special?" :D
As for a pick, I'll say 3-1 to the Socceroos. No reason why they can't get the same sort of result they did against England...

No worries, my pleasure. I have to do that kind of math every week just to watch or listen to MLS games from here. :)
I only caught a small glimpse of the game this morning before I had to get the train to Melbourne to go to work, and did anyone else in Australia feel put off by Seven broadcasting ads during the game? I realise that the morning rush is a prime advertising block for them in the eastern states, but this was inexcusable, IMHO.
I know we wouldn't get the same treatment by SBS, seeing that SBS is a non-commercial station-- but I would have preferred to have the Nine Network, which did a good job with the World Cup last year, get the new contract for Socceroos friendlies.
I'm sure they would have given it the coverage it deserves, plus the probability to have Eddie McGuire call Socceroos games, just the same way he does Collingwood in the AFL.
Hey, it's worth a shot, I'd hope. ;)

I thought it was a good game, you Aussies definitely take these friendlys serious, so it was good to see it wasn't your average friendly farce with both sides taking it easy.
Australia played well, but it would be nice to see another match between the sides mid season when all the players are in full swing, both teams looked a bit sluggish and tired since it's only early in the season that's understandable, but it was a good match to watch all the same, I hope to see you lads in the 2006 WC, whichever way you have to get there if you play to your potential you should get through.

The Socceroos played very well without Kewell, Moore and Skoko not playing. We do take these serious like WCQ's as we don't play frequently as the region here is not as strong as Europe. Also other national FA's won't take us seriously still. Full credit to the FA, FAI and the Jamaican FA for taking us on for good workout. We need 'moore' matches (LOL) and i believe an 'Ashes' series should take place between England & Australia. 1 game away, 1 game home. (Not always in Melb/Syd/Bris either!) Also a 4 nation comp should take place during the break after the season is finished in Europe. Australia,3 others or Australia, NZ and 2 others should compete in a comp.
We 'won' 68 mins of the game but the time the Irish won they managed to score 2 goals and put on pressure when it counted. So i see the positive of this game. A win would of made headlines here and cemented a spot in sport in Australia i feel. People think that England win was a fluke. It wasn't and let us prove it!
