Simple Question - Kimbo Slice
For Real or a gimic?

I have seen his fights online. Great punching power but can he really compete whene it comes to the elite strikers and fighters in the heavyweight of UFC
Silvia, Noguera, Crocop, etc...
and the pretty good
Chet Congo, Frank Mir, Arlovski etc...

For my money I think once they figure out his punching style he will be very open to those with more rounded fighting styles. Although we still have to see if the time spent with Bas Rueten really helps him out.

I'm voting no. Let's see him take on a real fighter and maybe I'll change my mind.

I'm voting no too. Ray Mercer, Bo Cantrell, and Tank Abbott are not good opponents. Since he is just getting into MMA, these fights somewhat make sense, but imagine him fighting someone with striking and ground game?
If he gets taken to the ground, He'll probably be exposed like Houston Alexander was when he fought Thiago Silva.

Its the same question with Brock Lesnar. Who knows. Give him a few more fights and against steadily improving competition and we will see.

Personally I think he has a chance to make a decent living in the next few years. He seems to work hard and has some talent.

I think he could end up being a good not great MMA fighter, someone to fear for his power.

Again I am not a big fan of the huge guys and that all they have is power. I like a the Randy couture type fighter that can beat you with technique on the ground or stand up.

What does for real mean? Does he hit hard with his fists? I am sure he does. If he faced a good JJ guy he would lose.

Is he a true mma fighter or a gimmick? Can he be elite or will he be a mma journeyman?

Would you consider Tank abbott elite or another Journeymen?

These guys are just street fighters who can use there hands what else are they? So they are a gimmick.

A guy like Lou Albano at a younger age would have given both a hard time because he had hands and he could actually wrestle.

Before they fought he would look at the guy in the eyes then stick his fingers in the guys eyes then kick his ass while he was down.

Concerning Tank I think much of his success came because, he had an very hard right. Also the sport was at its infancy and not many true mma fighters where out there. Now if you are not fully rounded and very fit you can be a journeyman but as far as reaching the elite catagory of fighters like Jackson, Sakuraba, Silva, and couture is going to be tough.

look at houston Alexander when they matched him against a guy who knew BJJ.

The last fight Houston had it was who was going to hit the other guy hard first. In that fight the other guy hit him first. If he hit that other guy first he would have won.

The difference between Kimbo and just any other brawler is Kimbo has one of the toughest chins I've ever seen. In one video he lets his opponent take three shots right in his face and is unfazed. Can't learn that with training.

not even close.

any decent guy with submissions could finish him, no problem.
