now that i've seen him play i can say he is a forward but two games in a row now, vs manU in the FA cup and home to milan, Wenger has played him in a AML role. imho this isn't working, he's a forward. just play a true 4-4-2. there is a time and a place for 4-5-1, say when you want a 0-0 draw, otherwise stop the 4-5-1

i don't think he was an attacking midfielder against United. it was a 4-4-2 against the Mancs, it is just that he and Bendtner had to drop really far back to get the ball.

I agree and I don't like it at all, it seemed like Ade was up front by himself tonight

3 cms 2 wingers/ams and ade upfront
like a 451 but ade and dudu sometimes switch positions and he comes inside central when the ball is being played from the right almost as a striker

your right, he started up top in a 4-4-2. i've tried to forget that game but iirc he was moved to midfield later on. irregardless, today vs milan wasnt the first time he was put in the midfield

1. Most of his game time this year has been on the left of a three-pronged attack.
2. IIRC we got to the Champions League final playing 4-5-1, I'm not sure we did it with a 0-0 in every game.

If you thought he was playing up front at Old Trafford on Saturday you need to look again. He was playing on the left and he's totally wasted out there. He's so sharp around the box, that is where he should be as much as possible. We should play 4-4-2 permanently, when we play with five in midfield we blunt our own attack and sticking the likes of Eduardo and Eboue in the wide positions doesn't exactly do that much for our defending either. Rather than letting the opposition worry about us it seems Wenger is getting overly cautious.

amen. another thing i dont see mentioned enough is Cesc hasn't had a good game in a 4-5-1 for over 2 years. the extra man in midfield messes up his mojo and gives him less targets up top to aim for. also against intuition he makes less surging runs in a 4-5-1 then a 4-4-2
i have little doubt Wenger will go 4-5-1 at milan, i just hope he doesnt start Eduardo if he's going to do that.
