This is not meant to stir up trouble, I just want to know a few things...

Did I really see Marco shove Stoich in the 85th minute and stoich try and get a handshake out of him while the ball was being played in NE's box?

Did I see Stoich crank a screaming cross at Marco's head?

When the game ended did anybody else see marco walk off the field into the locker room without shaking anybody's hand and Stoich go after him?

Any news about what went on in that locker room?

That was not a good game for Marco (theough the other NE match was) and though Stoich had a good game and gave us spark, he played for all of 15 minutes and probably instigated the fight by being too brusque with a guy who by that time was pretty tired and frustrated.

Any news? Speculation? Idle and viscious rumors (joking about that one)?

I missed the shove. My friend told me about it.

Stoich is the only player showing emotion out there. When he steps on the field the intensity level escalates. I love Marco and he has done more for DC United over the years than anybody, but, Stoich is the man right now. Maybe Stoich will get Marco passionate about the game again.

There are a few references in the post-match thread, but this needs to be a separate topic--it could have major implications on how we play those two for the rest of the season. Marco and Hristo were screaming at each other while Twellman was pushing toward goal at the other end. Ray laughed it off afterward, but it's beyond unprofessional and I hope his 'nads are big enough to demand an ending to that crap.

From watching the game on Fox after I got back Sat., it looked like it started when Marco got pissed that Hristo was about to take a free kick. Hristo probably then insulted Marco's Spanish, and it was on.

On the FoxSports feed, you can hear Ray screaming "Hristo!" constantly at that point. One of the "Hristo"s is followed by a "Get the xxxx xxx xxx," but I can't underatand it. In the stands, I thought Hristo deliberately rifled a subsequent pass past Marco, but from watching it on TV, I'm not sure what his intentions were. If only for the sake of on-field detante, Ray should have subbed in Stoich for Marco, and kept Earnie in, especially since Q2 was already in the game.

Stoich set up the winning goal--I guess he won the argument.

You're more than entitled to not like Stoich (I'd be scared to see him in a dark alley) but he has been the absolute definition of 'Super sub' for us the past few weeks.

Marco was that as well last time, but this time he seemed back to his coasting ways, not running on to passes, trudging along the field, noticably absent from counterattacks. I find that frustrating because he was so lively in the previous game and I want so badly for him to go out is style with us, not shoving players.

I saw the rocket cross from Hristo and I must say it looked deliberate, too. And funny as that may be (and oddly satisfying), it is still uncalled for.

I don't think Stoich is being respectful to the history of the team. Stoich is Johnny come lately, Etch has been here since 1996. Since the beginning, I mean he's wanted to go to England since then...but was forced to give up on that chance.

Sure Etch can be unfit, or show a lackluster performance, but you don't have the right to scream at him just because u played for Barca. Before Convey and Ben Olsen came it was Etch's team. Stoich can be upset at the shot Etch took that sailed off. Stoich on the left side of the box w/ space is a goal or a great rebound chance (exactly how DC won the game)

I believe Etcheverry and Stoichkov need to work out a functioning relationship. When they were out there together against the Metros, they were destroying the D. I think Etch and Stoich need to be subbed at the same time. Etch's fitness and Stoich's age but w/ out Convery there is a problem. Move Olsen to the middle..w/ Stewart out wide and start Curtis and Alecko or Q2 up top..

Or Put Earnie and Ali together..Olsen in the middle w/ Q2 on the wide Right. w Dema on the Left.

Hristo is a prima donna, no doubt, but as long as he's producing I guess I'll have to hold my nose.

For what it's worth, I don't think there's enough room on the field for both Stoichkov and Etch.

Let 'em decide it man to man:

I'll take stoich in the 2rd round if it's a fistfight, Marco in the 5th minute if it's a pie eating contest, Stoich to win by the 10th shot in a drinking contest and Marco edges him out in the coveted bitch at the referee contest, but only slightly.

It's a draw, then, how do we tiebreak?

Also, as far as Stoich not respecting the team, I think he just wants to win and could care less about stepping on toes.

Some would argue this is true in more ways than one!

Mad Bulgarian vs. El Diablo. Would be a great PPV. Can't we just all get along?

I'll sacrifice a life goat to Hristo or Marco before each game if we win. I think it's a great plan for them. New England stares at the midfield debacle, thus lulling them to sleep, then eliseo or Benny runs in and scores.

Hirsto is about as messed up as any sports SUPERstar. the guy has a more storied career than anyone who has graced an MLS field. he didn't that type of resume by being a fat lazy panzy ass. Etcheveryy can get mad all he wants but he looks like ************ plys liek ************ and is about as effective on the field as I am from where I am sitting. Etcheverry looks so fat compared to the rest of the players on the field it is sad. YOu can compare hristo to Jordan. Jordan was hated by alot of his teamates because of he was an a-hole. But he was the best and so is Hristo. He doesn't have the wheels anymore but when you look at what he has done and how he got there you gotta respect the guy for that. YOu have a gew of a player. its a shame the idiots running our team let him go!!! I hope you gusy have a better second half of the season.

Well, Garber for one. :-)

Also, I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize for my typos, although I like 'life goat'. It has a ring to it, like some mythical beast that heals the sick or something found on central american boats with a sticker that says "In case of emergency this goat may be used as a flotation device.'

I agree with everything you say except the above. Simply because Etch has stuck around and at one time was the creative spark doesn't entitle him to a free ride. Stoich has passion something that this team (and arguably Etch) has lacked. Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think he was forced to give up his chance in England, I think nobody wanted him. I seem to remember Etch being shopped around and the price was just too high. It has been said before and I agree that Etch and Stoich are excellent subs, they shouldn't - I mean can't - play 90 and shouldn't - I mean can't - play nice togther.

My impression was that it started when Hristo took a corner kick. Marco was in the center of the field and started jogging over but Hristo, who was already in the corner, set up and took it. As soon as he started setting the ball up, Marco started screaming at him. After that it looked like Hristo was just trying to calm Marco down and then Marco pushed him.

My interpretation...Marco got pissed because Hristo was taking 'Marco's' corner kick and acted like a four year old who just had his toy taken by another kid.

I disagree with a lot of the stuff Hristo does but he wasn't at fault here as far as I could tell.

Very sensible.

As the tie-breaker, I suggest that each player has to run through a gauntlet of their teamates- whoever gets out alive starts future games. If neither do-well their erstwhile teamates will be that much happier and relaxed!

I think this thread is worthy of the Weekly World News for all of the "facts" that can be added to it....

Ray addressed the situation on the Soccer Show tonight. It's what you'd expect. Hudson said that Etch & Stoitchkov were "leopards who weren't going to change their spots". It was two competitive players that didn't agree on a particular decision by Etch to have a crack from distance rather than pass to Stoitchkov. Ray said he and Trask spoke to them about the situation and noted that Stoitchkov has had a habit of this kind of thing throughout the season, and is something they've asked him to tone down. He also added that he didn't expect Hristo would be changing his style.

There you go.
