Right! Two players of different ages and abilities..
If CR7 can be the #1 Fifa Player of the Year for more than what Ronaldo had received, then he will be better than Brazilian Ronaldo. That will happen if CR7 will be the age of Ronaldo. I do hope.

My choice: Brazilian Ronaldo

what about world cups......c. ronaldo has to win two of those to match r9's talley

I saw a thread in "MLS Fans" that turned into an argument about who the better player is, although they don't play the same positions, which one do you guys think is the more gifted player?

Ronaldo was a one-off. One of those players that defined a football era. There haven't been many of these, but they tend to be noted by their ability to bring something to the game that wasn't there before. Here are some players that I identify as era-defining players. Ronaldo is in there. C Ronaldo isn't....yet. Let's see how he gets on.

50s:
Di Stefano
Garrincha
Puskas
60s:
Pele
Moore and Beckenbauer
70s
Cruyff
80s
Maradonna
Platini
90s
Baggio
Del Piero
Possibly Romario
Matt Le Tissier :)
2000s
Ronaldo
Zidane
Ronaldinho
Possibly Henry

C. Ronaldo has only been one of the best players in the world for just over a year.

Look at his age, though. His career is just getting started.

If he can keep this level up for a few years, lets say at least until until he's thirty, play champions league, Euro championships, and World Cups at this level of play, and maybe grow even more in some aspects of his game, he's going to be remembered as one of the great ones of all time.

Easier said than done, of course, but he has all the tools to do it.

I think I agree with the clowns.
I mean personally there is no doubt that of all the big players, C. Ronaldo is on best form in the 2007-2008 season, but in general I think he lacks character, a bit like Ibrahimovic, whose skills I would never even think of knocking.

C.Ronaldo seems to disappear when Man U isn't playing well, I noticed this quite frequently in last years Champion's League and in a few of this year's matches as well.
He is an incredible player, one of the best of this decade and certainly the best of this year, but brazilian Ronaldo...when he was on form...well that was something else entirely.
What I mean is that C.Ronaldo can be compared to the Kakas, Messis and Ronaldinhos of the world, but Brazilian Ronaldo can be compared to the Peles, the Maradonas and the Van Bastens.
That's my opinion. One of the two is a great player, the other is the stuff of soccer history

While C. Ronaldo is moving to a UEFA Champions League final, Brazilian Ronaldo decided to drop by and party with the trannies:

Police question Ronaldo after run-in with transvestites

SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP)—Soccer star Ronaldo was questioned by police early Monday after a run-in with Brazilian transvestites in a Rio de Janeiro motel.

Ronaldo accused one of the transvestites of trying to extort him, police inspector Carlos Augusto Nogueira said Monday night. Nogueira said the altercation began when Ronaldo found out he was dealing with transvestites instead of women. The inspector said Ronaldo admitted he knew they were prostitutes when they met earlier Sunday night, but did not realize they were transvestites until they got to the motel. “He admitted to everything, he wanted to have fun,” Nogueira said. “But he committed no crime at all, it was immoral at best.”

Prostitution is not illegal in Brazil.

The AC Milan striker told police he offered to pay the transvestites anyway, but before he left one of them allegedly asked for $30,000 to hide the story from the media. Nogueira said he believed Ronaldo’s version because the transvestite decided to leave the police station even before being fully questioned by authorities.

The transvestite also accused Ronaldo of asking him to buy drugs.
In a statement to TV Globo, Ronaldo reiterated he was a victim of extortion and denied he has ever used drugs.
Ronaldo and the transvestites were only questioned by police and voluntarily went to the police station.
Ronaldo is in Rio de Janeiro recovering from surgery on his left knee. He said Sunday he could be back in action in six months if his recovery continues to go as planned.

Ronaldo has won two World Cups with Brazil, including the 2002 title in which he scored eight goals, including two in the final against Germany.
A message to Ronaldo’s spokesman was not immediately answered Monday.

And now that the World knows what the 2002 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot winner does in his spare time, this is his answer:

Ronaldo goes into hiding in Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (AP)—Ronaldo went into hiding Tuesday after a run-in with cross-dressing prostitutes that prompted police to investigate whether to charge one with trying to extort money from the soccer star.
The AC Milan player, in Brazil recovering from a knee surgery, canceled two TV appearances, and local media said he will continue physiotherapy at his home.

Police said Ronaldo committed no crime, but he was accused by one prostitute of using drugs and not wanting to pay. Prostitution is legal in Brazil. “It is necessary to clarify that no formal accusations were made against Ronaldo,” read a statement on the player’s Web site. “An advocate of social causes, Ronaldo has never used drugs and has always been admired by children in Brazil and around the world. There are indications of an extortion attempt in which the Milan striker is the only victim.”

Ronaldo, a three-time FIFA player of the year, acknowledged to police he knew they were prostitutes but did not realize they were cross-dressers until getting to a motel early Monday morning, according to police.
Police released more details Tuesday, and the AP reviewed witnesses’ accounts to authorities. The motel manager—identified only as Luisa—said Ronaldo, who was dressed and appeared to be sober, tried to get rid of the prostitutes after realizing they were men.

She told police Ronaldo offered the prostitutes $600 to end the incident but they would not accept dollars. The manager then converted the money into reals for Ronaldo, but before he made the payment one prostitute asked for 50,000 reals ($30,000) to keep the story from the media, according to the police document. A motel waiter, who was not identified in the police documents, told police the prostitute went to the street and yelled “the Phenomenon didn’t want to pay.” Witnesses also told police the prostitute who asked for 50,000 reals ripped out the phone wires to keep Ronaldo from calling for help, and broke into his car to steal his belongings, according to police documents. That prostitute later showed local media a car document belonging to Ronaldo.

Police inspector Carlos Augusto Nogueira said there was no evidence drugs were involved in the incident. But he said Ronaldo and the prostitutes must return to the police station for further questioning next week. Nogueira added the one prostitute might be charged with extortion. Ronaldo will not be charged, Nogueira said, unless he threatened to physically assault the prostitutes, as one hinted.

The case made front-page headlines in several Brazilian newspapers Tuesday. And a brief video clip of Ronaldo at the motel, apparently taped by one of the prostitutes, became a big hit in Brazil after being uploaded on YouTube. “It’s really a soap opera,” said 48-year-old Luiz Mendes, a private chauffeur. “Ronaldo has money to fill mattresses. He can afford the best and most beautiful women in the world. Why would he want to go out with these (prostitutes).”

Some Brazilians defended the star.

“It’s no surprise they are on the front page of all newspapers,” said 27-year-old Catia Lopes, a bakery-shop worker. “But I don’t think Ronaldo’s image was hurt. For me he is still the same person.” Ronaldo’s spokesman did not immediately return an e-mail from The Associated Press. Ronaldo went out Sunday night reportedly to celebrate Flamengo’s 1-0 victory over rival Botafogo in the first leg of the Rio de Janeiro state final. Ronaldo is a fan of Flamengo and has said he wants to play for the Brazilian club before retiring. He was at Maracana stadium to watch Sunday’s match.

The player told reporters during the match that he could be back in action in six months if his recovery continues to go as planned. Ronaldo has won two World Cups with Brazil, including in 2002 when he scored eight goals, including two in the final against Germany.

Associated Press Writer Tales Azzoni in Sao Paulo, Brazil, contributed to this report.

Personally, Ronaldo is bullshitting. With the money and fame he's got, you would think he could get any beautiful girl he wants whether he pays for it or not (and Rio de Janeiro has many, many fine ass girls!). There is no way he was "extorted". Anyone with half a brain could tell those trannies were men. I mean, my god, look at their faces in the page before!! He knew what he was looking for and someone that wasn't supposed to know found out about it.

This is sad and funny at the same time. The fact that with the fame he's got, he can't get a girl to sleep with him without paying. A lower point is that he was willing to pay for it (and he offered the equivilant of 400 dollars!). An even more and bizarre lower point is that he knew they were trannies and he still was willing to pay for it.

After years of jokes Brazilians have made about Maradona (at least, he took care of his problems and he is clean and not ********ing trannies), Brazil will neeeeeeveeeeeeer hear the end of this from the Argentinians...my god, that tranny said he suck Ronaldo's d1ck and Ronaldo said, "Soy el fenomeno" LMFAO THIS MADE MY DAY!!!! LOLO

Brazilians making fun of Maradona is COMPLETELY different than Argentinians making fun of Ronaldo. Maradona is the greatest Argentine footballer of all time, Ronaldo isn't for Brazil.

Who says Ronaldo can't take care of his problems? It's not like he's addicted to sleeping with "trannies". It was a one time thing (I think :D)
