Cristiano Ronaldo is a very good and skilled player. His team plays for him just because of his talent, so I canīt see a point of discussion about it.

However, R9 in his prime was unstoppable, maybe the greatest player after Maradonaīs retirement ever.

In sum, R9 made a difference in the game, whereas CRonaldo not yet (and I think he wonīt that much). And THATīs the difference between them both and what makes R9 better.

Whereas teams like Liverpool, Chelsea, Lyon, etc (organised, tough, rigid defences of high quality) can put 2-3 players on C. Ronaldo and keep him quiet for an entire game or the guts of it, and frustrate him in the process... you just couldn't do that with the original Ronaldo.
Which top quality teams did he tear up in those two years? For all this 'unplayable' talk of how he was in 96 -98, it's not like he has a long list of marquee games against the likes of Real, Juve etc.

Your welcome. Come back when you actually know something about the players in question.

You dont even know me, bro. Who do you think you are to judge me or my knowledge about the game? Get a life, man.

I stop here because I figured out that when you face such an idiot, he takes you down his level and defeats you by experience.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a soccer poser, Fat Ronaldoīs career is in its twilight. Amazing a poser either you dont know soccer or you just dont like Portuguese players bc thats sad someone on a soccer forum would say something like that about a player that won a premier league for his team outscored all forwards in europe even tho he isnt even a forward, and was just as consistant in the champions league and afterseeing Man U. struggle with out c.ronaldo im more convinced that he is the better player.

Let's be honest with ourselves here... C. Ronaldo is a forward, at least when playingf for Man United. I'm not taking anything away from him in saying that btw, but he does play as a forward in our system.

That's all well and good but a striker he is not and despite that he still outscored everyone.

Billy is right. Ronaldo played as a striker for sporting's youth because of his height and heading abilty.

He is about to play as a striker once more under Queiroz it appears.

Are you happy about that?

I suppose it would allow Portugal to play more of its wingers like Quaresma, Nani, Danny etc.

Personally I think it is a good decision for Portugal - aside from GK, LB & striker they have so much talent in pretty much every position. Ronaldo has shown that he can be a very, very effective forward (and I am guessing he will be roaming a lot more than a traditional '#9' striker) and although he is also ther best wide player... it's hardly like they lack quality in depth out there. Portugal might have the best quality in wingers in the world, actually...

Plus, anything that gets Nuno Gomes & co out of the side is a positive for them.

Agree'd, Queiroz is even implementing a 4 - 4 - 2 it seems. It appears he wants Ronaldo to play in the hole with a free roam tag, with either Almeida, Djalo, or Gomes playing upfront with him. Then put in 2 of Nani, Quaresma, Simao, or Danny out wide.

---------------C.Ronaldo
Nani--------------------------Quaresma
---------------Deco
-------Moutinho----Petit/Veloso

Looks like a decent team to me.
