Comedy starring Jack Black and Mos Dep. I'm cautiously optimistic that this will be another High Fidelity type of role for Jack Black. It's getting good reviews, which is a first for a Jack Black as lead movie.

The trailer I've seen for this looks hysterical. Even the missus was laughing, which considering who was starring is a big deal in my household :)

I've been eagerly waiting for this to come out after seeing the trailer a few months ago. Like Helghallen said, even my girlfriend was laughing who doesn't find Jack Black funny. Actually she might've said Will Ferrell. Or both. Shit.

Anyway, I also love Mos Def. The guy can act.

I am also looking forward to this flick. The reviews I've seen thus far have not been exactly glowing, however. A local film critic who loves Jack Black gave it the lowest ranking he's got (the only other film I've seen him rank that low had Paris Hilton in it).

Hopefully he's wrong.

Well it's not that bad, it's got [rul=http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/be_kind_rewind/]69%[/url] on RottenTomatoes. TBH it's worth going to see for the fact that it is Gondry, has Mos Def in it, and just seems to be a genuinely fun movie, which we don't get enough of these days (without them being complete shit). I'm not expecting to see a masterpiece or anything of the sort, but it looks well worth going to see on a Tuesday night, anyway.

Just came back from seeing this film. Yeah, this movie just didn't do it for me. I can't exactly put my finger on what I didn't like about except maybe the pacing, which I thought was off. I'm huge fan of Gondry's work, so I'll give it another chance when it comes out on DVD. Maybe I'll like it more on a second viewing.

Ultimately, a disappointing film. The story wasn't told all that well and I couldn't count the unexplained plot holes on two hands. Black and Mos Def put in decent performances, but the writing lacked and just wasn't enough for either of them. It seemed, at several times, like the film had potential, but it always crashed back to earth hard.

There were some funny parts, but overall, it was unimpressive. I would give it a D.
