I'm sorry if I somehow missed it... but I couldn't believe there's no thread for Gregory Hines, who died today at the age of 57.
I'm actually pretty depressed about it, as I found him to be an extraordinarily talented person... and, frankly, I don't know whether or not he was, but he really, really seemed like a nice person.

He gave a dance workshop at my high school in the mid 80s. I didn't participate but I watched part of it as did most of my school. He really seemed to enjoy working with the students in the class. He was more than willing to talk with anybody who wanted to, even the non-dancers. He even put up with one of my crazy, star-struck music teachers.

He's on the Law and Order episode tonight on NBC at 10 pm EDT, if my cable's program guide is to be believed.

Yes, he was on Law & Order. Gregory Hines was the last of his kind - not just a song & dance man, but also tremendous acting ability, too. I LOVED White Nights because of him. One can only hope that someone will someday be able to fill his dancing shoes - but I'm not going to hold my breath.
