If someone told me how much I would enjoy George Romero's latest entry in his seemingly never-ending "zombie" cycle, I would have told them it was impossible. Especially considering this is another of those shot-by-the-participants films. Yawn!

Well, I can now say these three things: A) Old-timer Romero ending up having a good picture left in him after all -- congrats, George!; B) this movie is so superior to the over-bloated and over-hyped I Am Legend "epic" that it isn't even funny; and C) it's also miles ahead of other "victim vid" horror/sci-fi films like Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield.

If you're on the fence over this one, definately go see it. Don't hesitate.

I'm three moats, a maginot line, and just a whole shitload of rebar from the fence, but noted.

(I actually do have some of his stuff in the ol' netflix queue.)

I was intrigued by the title, Dairy of the Dead, I was expecting it to be a satire, with zombie Holsteins, but see it's just a typo. So is it told from the perspective of the zombies?

Umm... no. Romero's kind of zombies aren't exactly into the video thing -- for which I think we can all be grateful.

Robin Wood wrote a wonderful reflection on the film in Film Comment (http://www.filmlinc.com/fcm/jf08/deaddiary.htm) (warning: spoliers). Haven't seen it yet myself.
