Does this book by BB exist in any other language than French? I want to read it but the only language I have found it in is French, even on Amazon.com ... its funny that English language media says the book is controversial when seemingly its impossible to find in this language to read in the first place.

It's probably controversial because Bardot is a member of the Front National, a backward, nationalist and xenophobic party.

This was in the news today. :rolleyes: I swear to god the French love the muslim immigrants ten times as much as they love their own, even most precious icons. Bardot, an animal rights activist, makes a complaint about sheep slaughtering and the French charge her with "inciting racial hatered". Its no wonder so many Europeans are emmigrating to places like Australia.

The Americans have it worse off since even back then their sex symbol had granny hair. :p Bardot at least has the guts to stand up for things she believes in (animal rights) regardless of the authorities trying to deprive her of her freedom of speech.

Its no wonder so many Europeans are emmigrating to places like Australia.it's not easy to comment when you have only very superficial information about the subject at hand, so know that:

a) muslim immigrants aren't quite so well loved as all that... :rolleyes:

b) any charges of inciting racial hatred proferred on BB would be based on much more than just a complaint about hallal practices; she has a long-standing, well-earned reputation as a card-carrying bigot. and though you (and i) may agree with certain of her causes, i can guarantee you she is a very dodgy spokewomen for anything. she strikes me as a borderline lunatic.

c) not so many french emigrate as all that. france receives about 50% more immigrants per year than australia, and even taking out influx from the african continent is a country of net immigration. and as for australia, it may be a destination for english but not for the french. the population of people of french heritage in australia has only increased by about 600 a year since 2000, including children born to existing residents. judging form the aussie population in lyon, it's possible more australians come here than vice-versa!

in France it is forbidden to slaughter animals outside legal abattoirs, animals must be stunned before being killed except for some ritual slaughtering… (the law was written in 1997 methinks)

I believe in some countries like New-Zealand some techniques (chemical ones ? Not sure…) are used to stun the animals before killing them without any problems before exporting them to the muslim countries markets…

Some people in France try to pretend most muslim families force the poor lamb to climb though the stairs before slaughtering it in the bathtub like it is done in some countries and it was done 30 or 40 years ago when it was not forbidden by law… Needless to say that this cliché is not innocent…

This urban legend is just breathtakingly stupid. I live in the country side. A farm nearby (not run by muslims, BTW) specialised itself in this (rather lucrative) business. Families choose the beast, then they come to sacrify it, under close scrutiny of the veterinary services. It's clean, everybody has a nice time and celebrates.

You can say killing the beast is bad. Sheesh. My uncle used to breed his own chicken and rabbits, and killed them himself. He wasn't some sort of homicidal maniac, simply a guy who wanted to be certain of the quality of his food. And many still do that around here (it's still better than eating the beast alive :p ).

What BB thinks ? That beef comes naturally in hamburgers ?

i keep my meat intake low for my own health and for the planet, but some people choose to be vegans. that's great. and you know what? when i went googling for info about BB and her several inculpations of racist remarks over the last 15 years, the site the most critical of her was a vegan site!
