Didn't see any thread on this so decided to start one to track the Bolivian teams and Bolivian players in the tournament.
The copetitors representing Bolivia are Real Potosi and San Jose and La Paz FC was elimianted in the playoff for the 4th spot of group 3.
La Paz FC should be ashaed of themselves as they were beaten by average Atlas team who played terrible IMO. They really missed Ronald Gutierrez, they couldn't generate anything without him. Too bad he was sold to Turkey right before Libertadores. They should fire that Brazilian goalie of their he's god awful.
Real Potosi got a beatdown yesterday 3 nil to Cruzeiro in Brazil, and we'll see if they can get anything going.
Frankly I'm not expecting much from either Potosi or San Jose. Anyone think any of these teams can make any noise.
Anyone know of Bolivians in other teams in Libertadores. I only know of Marcelo Moreno Martins for Cruzeiro who has 3 gols by the way. Diego Cabrera with Cucuta who lost yesterday, and Lorgio Alvarez which had 2 great gols for Cerro in the pre-lib but had his team eliminated by Cruzeiro.

Good Topic!Lapaz FC impressed me alittle, but their conditioning just didn't last.** They need faster players.I'm not expecting much from the BOlivian teams this year, but next year should be interesting, especially since Bolivar will surely be in it, and their roster should include even better players then what they have now.**

Watching Real Potosi and they are playing really pretty futbol, Percy Colque and Gatty Ribiero are playing very well against Caracas FC, Gatty is still really slow on the defense though and really needs to drop some kilos.
Galindo missed a perfect opp. after he beat a defender and had allll day but froze up when he was right there. He instead chose to shoot it to the closer post and shot right outside of it. It was sad. He doesnt have it anymore.
Right now they are losing 2-0 because of 1 bad defensive play and a lucky cross in the first 2 mins. They have a man over Caracas though, and should be able to put one in to even things up in Potosi.

Potosi gets one back. Does Edu Monteiro still play for them?

Decent goal for Real Potosi, they are getting lucky though. Caracas should have put in a couple. Theyre forwards are decent. But 2-1 loss in Vene. is not that bad, they can take them home and beat them 3-1 or 3-0 im sure.
Judging by the lineup against Cruzeiro last game they had, http://soccernet.espn.go.com/match?id=235296&cc=5901
it seems hes not there anymore. Cant say much beyond that, dont follow them much. More so Bolivar.

WTF! Potosi got cheated! They could have had that last free kick, as i understand it ref's arent suppose to stop games until the ball goes to the other side of the non attacking team even if it is over the limit! Potosi had a clear free kick! Gattys' leg almost got ripped off!!!
And they should have scored. Overall they looked good though, and is our strongest bolivian team in the CL right now. I will be rooting for them.

Nope, only way they can't stop it is on a penalty.

Hmmm... i dunno. The ref made a bad call, you know if that happened to caracas FC you'd be fuming also. They got lucky though! The goalie barely tipped that header at th 92'..

Hummm
Red card your best player
7 yellow cards to your team
stay with +1 man for 55 minutes
but won't get a call that's totally legal according to the rules.
I'll take it.
IMHO
2-1 loss is a deal for Potosi they got off real easy the straight red card to our best player plus only giving us yellow cards throughtout the game. What maro can you ask for from the ref.

TAhis is true though, Caracas looked real good from thier earlier game with SL, hopefully it can be caracas and Real Potosi that go to the next round, but Cruzeiro looks really good right now too with Marcelo Martins(Moreno) playing awsome upfront for them. Personally i just hope either team or possibly both make it out of this group stage. Caracas are really dangerous up front though.

I saw the last 20 minutes of the SAN JOSE match. Man do we have serious problems.
How was the first half like? The last 20 minutes was horrible.

I was watching that game loosely, it was ok. Bad futbol from both cucuta and San Jose. Nothing worth talking about.

I think there is something worth talking about . . . the fact that despite all the close calls Cucuta had to score, San Jose managed to get a tie and on the road no less.
How many times have we've seen a bolivian club or the national team come within minutes of stealing a point or 3 as a visiting team and at the very last minute, blowing it and going home with 0 points?
Too many times . . .
Yes, San Jose played bad futbol and yes, they have little if any chance of passing the group stage, but it was awesome that they stoled a point. Although they got mad lucky, a tie is a tie in the books and it's not every day a bolivian club gets so lucky . . . usually we are always on the oposite end.
Who knows, maybe they'll steal a couple more points.

Okay . . . so I guess it's not worth talking about. Just when you think they turn things around by stealing a point on the road, they go ahead and give it right back with bonus.
What worse is that it doesn't surprise us anymore. No matter how much little time is left and a bolivan club is winning, the other team is still the heavy favorite.
On a different note, does anyone know why Cabrera didn't start tonight's game against Chivas? Was it due to league play?

Im not sure, but watching him play for cucuta was painful lately, when he did play in the CL. Hes not playing great, and that other guy the argentine Urbano that scored the lone goal for them looked REALLY good.

Does anyone know where I can get highlights of the San Jose - Santos game? How did they play? I can't believe they came from behind to win the game. With 2 out of the remaining 3 games at home, they have a shot of making it past the group stage.

Yeah you're right they have a shot, but don't get your hopes up. I could easily see them choking at home.

I have better hopes for Potosi.
I'm sorry to say they're already eliminated but now that they know they can't qualify, they'll probably will play better and have in a sense better hopes than San Jose. Lets just hope the final 2 games at home will be a blessing for San Jose.
