FIFA vice-president Jack Warner believes the 'time has come' for England to host another World Cup.
Warner had initially said he was against FIFA's decision to change the rotation rules which would enable Europe to host the tournament in 2018.
The 65-year-old had also been previously claimed England would be unlikely to win the race to stage the showpiece in 10 years' time.
But Warner, who is also president of the CONCACAF executive committee, has now come out and said England deserve to host the tournament having lost out to Germany in 2006.
'It is England's time. The fact is they invented this sport. They last held the World Cup 42 years ago,' Warner told Sky Sports News.
'That is almost two to three generations. There are guys in England who have never seen a World Cup on English soil. I am saying that the time has come for England to come into its own.
'They have a lot of things in place and CONCACAF is one of the the strongest supporters of England.'
Warner, who had been quoted as saying England were an 'irritant' disliked by the rest of Europe, reaffirmed his feeling that the country are not very popular within UEFA.
'I was critical of The FA (in the past). There seems to be some kind of situation where England was marginalised,' Warner said.
'If England's time (to host the World Cup) is 2018, I would be happy for them.
'But the feeling in Europe from time to time that this view (of supporting England) is not a collective view held behind closed doors.'

2018 is almost certainly going to be Europe's turn. I won't even be surprised if they muscle in for 2014. That said, Warner should go die in a fire.

Could be the result of an agreement for the England18 folks to support a USA22 bid.
Of course, it could simply be the result of Jack Warner cashing in on a strong British Pound.
All I know is that if the guy is supporting England when he knows a CONCACAF federation is going to make a bid, he had damn well better have a good reason.

or maybe he knows the plug is very close to being pulled for SA '10. There was a report of a match in T & T involving England, a 100 yr celebration or something, the FA wanted an apology from Warner about some comments he made before they would consider it.

Well, there you go. Follow the money trail and you'll always find Mr. Warner.

This is certainly the reason for Warner's "change of heart." The English FA (rightfully) told Warner he could go stick a palm tree up his arse regarding England playing a friendly in T&T, unless he retracted his previous statements.

Just goes to show how phony all of his statements are.

Forget how he keeps getting reelected, how has Warner not been indicted for something yet? Why is Trinidad's national federation almost bankrupt after their team made the World Cup? Where did the revenue from the federation's allotment of tickets go? What happened to their share of television revenue? Warner is probably not alone in the corruption there, but he is certainly a big part of it.

I think Warner will recant the statement about supporting England in 2018 right after the friendly in T&T. Thats the kind of guy he is.

Do we? I'm not sure we (nor Mexico) can do much of anything about him.

I have one word "Cuju." "In 2004, the governing body of football (soccer), officially stated that China was the birthplace of its game." Thus, this guy is already making us look bad. England just invented the rules of this sport. It's England's problem that they lost to Germany to hold the 06' World Cup. USA deserves this one. It is our turn!

Also, I am sure there were lots of English "guys" who went to go see the 2006 world cup. How far is Germany from England? 600 miles! That's the same distance form NYC to Ohio! Wow.. I feel really bad for them.

I had the feeling Warner was going to turn it around and kiss the FA's ass. What a pathetic man he is. A thief, a coward & an ass kisser.

I agree with your whole post, but it isn't really "our turn." There are plenty of nations capable of hosting the event who haven't for quite a long time. England happens to be one of them.
In CONCACAF we all know Mexico is capable of hosting it, and by 2018 I'm pretty confident Canada could have the infrastructure in place to do it as well.
There is and there has always been a 0% chance the US was going to get the 2018 World Cup. Anybody who watches the politics of FIFA knows this. One of our political problems of course has been that our own confederation head doesn't back us. The UEFA head, Platini, isn't the biggest US soccer fan now is he? If people don't know why the US and France haven't played since 1979 they should look it up.

Wouldn't matter. He is so corrupt that he would find the ability to keep his FIFA power from the grave. Sorta like a Democrat from Chicago or Albany in the 1960's.

Wonder what Jack has to say about Sepp's comments last night:
Sepp Blatter: I'll block England's 2018 bid if Prem global plan goes ahead
Read Article (http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2008/02/15/sepp-blatter-i-ll-block-england-s-2018-bid-if-prem-global-plan-goes-ahead-89520-20320161/)
Sepp Blatter last night vowed to wreck England's hopes of hosting the 2018 World Cup unless the Premier League scraps its global games plan....
And as Scudamore prepared to fly to Zurich next week to try to convince Blatter of the merits of his plans, the head of the world game insisted England's 2018 bid was being put at risk.
