Q: I usually play a 3 hour pick-up game on Saturdays, and am always quite tired after the game. Then have a league game on Sunday.
I'm usually still tired from the Saturday game, and feel I don't play as well a I could on the Sunday game.
Does anyone have any tips from recovering from a game and getting ready for the next day.
What things to eat, etc...
On a similar not, has anyone tried PowerBars
and what do they think of them? Are they effective?

Eat lots of carbs, fruits and vegs 3 hours before the game and after the game to get your body loaded with energy. And most important take a looong time to stretch after your saturday's game. Do a really thorough stretching - this will help a lot. Drink a sports drink before, during and after the games. And rest in the Saturday evening. Of course you'll be a lot better off on Sunday, if you do just a light training on Saturday.

Thanks for the input. I don't get a chance to
try these this weekend (8-16 & 8-17), since
I took the family camping.
Next weekend (8-23 & 8-24) will definitely
try this.
The two things that I try to do differently
are better cool down exercise and streching,
and contunie to consume fluids after the first
event. This might be the problem I have on
Sunday.

They are not really useful for recovery, but they can help in other ways. Remember that most of them are candy bars with protien and vitamins added (and some don't even have that - be sure to read the label). But it is a tasty way to get lots of vitamins that you might not be getting in your diet. I usually eat one before a game if I am hungry, as I don't want to fill up on a real meal. Be sure to drink something while or after eating them.
They vary in taste and texture. PowerBars are very tough and chewy. I like the Balance and Cliff bars. Some are very nasty. If you have a Trader Joe store near you, they have a very wide selection at a very good price.

Oh, and one thing that helps me prepare for multi-game weekends is to get into better shape. Try doing a little exercise on Wednesday - just a short jog or bike ride, enought to get your heart pumping a while. It will really help.

Let's see stop playing in Saturdays.
Instead drink a lot of water on Saturday.
