I think that this player deserve a his own thread . So write about him.
He said that he is going nowhere and that he is fully concentrated on Werder Bremen and that he have a contract until 2011 which I intend to fulfill . But every day there are new speculations about where is he going ( Juve , Real , Barca , Inter , Liverpool ) . I hope he would remain in Werder for years but i think it is not impossible , maybe if we next year in CL get to Semifinals or even Finals Diego will extend contract . But we now have him and we must be happy . Diego and Werder 4ever !!!

It would be a very big surprise for me if he moves in the summer, after his contract extension earlier in the season. I guess it would be possible if Bremen fails to qualify for next years CL, but even then I think he'll stay.

Further in the future, I'm less sure. I'd guess he'll go to a bigger club in 2009, In parts because it will be very hard to shine in Bremen as much as Kaka does in Milan or Ronaldinho in Barcelona, and I think he will want to play in the next World Cup. A very successfull season with Bremen (Bundesliga title and/or CL semifinal) might change that, but on the other hand, a very successfull season would also increase the interest of big teams in him.

Even so, I think he's a very professional player who (unlike a certain striker) will not bottle up the season just because he wants to move.

Super player, if only he had just a bit more pace....

Diego is fun to watch but I don't think the rumors will stop any time soon. But thats fine with me because rumors are part of the business. He brings a lot to the Bundesliga and I'd like to see him win the league with Werder and further his game into European competitions.

His goal this past week against Bayern was just a snapshot of his finishing, which I think is world class. Without all the injuries to the team this season Werder could easily be tied with Bayern, but they're keeping pace thanks to Mr. da Cunha. :D

looks like Diego is unhappy in Bremen....i had heard a couple days ago that he didnt want a move...but due to boos from other teams, our poor form, and his distaste for German society, he looks like he wants to move to REAL this summer....

i figured as much, at least we will get 30 mio for him

I thought Chelsea were going to snatch him up...
anyway I hope this is not true... while Ozil shows promise Diego is too important to be replaced yet

I'll trust Juergen Born on this. "he'll leave only over my Corpse (or Leiche if there's a better word) "

We'll keep him at least one more year. Again for him it's better to stay because of our playing system.

Many teams play without a Playmaker #10 now (things like 4-3-3)... they look for very tall attackers and very fast players. A player like Diego will maybe not have this opportunity to shine. A situation like Porto.

We need him more than the other teams chasing after him. There's no point in him leaving just yet. He wanted to win us titles? Well he might have to stay for one more season to promise us that.

i remember reading an article where he stated that he couldnt stand the food and it made him fairly sick sometimes, and he doesnt like getting booed by half of the opposing teams we face. On top of that, the language barrier of course.

Goal.com article states that Diego will move to Inter in summer.

Who will take his place if he leaves? Ozil? Harnik?

Again speculations  , Diego has leave Werder this year too often , he was in Real , in Barca , in Inter , in Juve , in Chelsea , in Pool , in Arsenal , in Manchester City .................. And after every speculation he said that he is happy in Bremen and he is fully concentrated in his games for Werder .

Today I read a article( on Croatian ) http://www.net.hr/sport/ukratko/page/2008/04/18/0141006.html

On English:

Diego will stay in Werder

He said : Since I came in Werder i feel that I play best Football in my career , an for that I am invited in Brazil national team. There in Bremen is great for me and I have no reason to change anything. :)

Sorry if i have grammar mistakes , I am not very good in English :p

Diego, Naldo, Owo and some other Bundesliga players fielded a beach soccer team at a charity beach soccer event in Essen. They beat the german beach soccer national team. The Diego-team was coached by TS.

Today Werder announced that Diego won*t be allowed to play for Brazil in China this summer. Sucks for him, but good decision for our club. Diego already accepted his "fate" ;)

Not that I mind the decision, but how does it work that way? I thought FIFA just clarified a few days ago that clubs were required to release their U-23 players for the Olympics (Diego is 23 so he falls under that umbrella). Is Werder getting ready to fight some battle against FIFA or did they reach some agreement with the Brazilians?

FIFA can say what they want, but at the moment there's no legal basis which says that the clubs have to let their players go.

Diego, his father/agent Djair and the Werder executives had a talk today. The situation now is that Diego will fly to Paris to meet with the brazilian olympic team without Werders permission.

In reaction to this Werder will call the international sports tribunal CAS in order to get a quick solution for this problem.

http://www.werder.de/english/news/meldung.php?id=1473

The FIFA has proven to be incompetent on that matter. If the CAS doesn't react in time I could imagine that Werder would sue the FIFA for compensation. In that case it might also have consequences for Diego himself.
