Tuesday 12th February

Kaspars Gorkss is suspended for this match and Ipswich away on Saturday so expect club captain Michael Jackson to step in. Keith Southern is still recovering from his long term injury and is not yet back to full match fitness. Also Stephen McPhee is back in contention tomorrow after being left out of the squad for the Hull match as part of the agreement when we signed him from them.

Also yet again the match is heading for a sell out. Wolves have sold their full allocation, and earlier today there were less than 200 tickets left in the Kop and the West Stand and they will be sold tomorrow.

No more draws! Lets get a win this time.

The "SOLD OUT" signs went up at Bloomfield Road earlier today.

Wolves stiker Andy Keogh has apparently scored 4 goals in the last 4 games. But there again, Paul Dickov has scored 3 goals in 1+1 games for use! (one full game plus a 19 minute substitute appearance!)

Setting off for the match in about 40 minutes, and hoping for a win! Though Simon Grayson now reckons we need 15 points from the last 15 games to secure Championship status and so avoid relegaton back to League One. So 1 point per game would do fine!!!! :D

For a game without any goals it was (IMO) entertaining. Wolves are a decent side but we matched them throughout the game, and both sides could have won. Both teams hit the post within a minute of each other too in the 2nd half.

Paul Dickov was superb, as was Stephen Crainey (quite why he isn't in the Scotland squad I don't know, he deserves to be), and Wes worked his socks off as always. Gary Taylor-Fletcher also has made the step up to this level very well. Alos good to see Keith Southern back after injury. We missed Kaspars Gorkss though and even though Jacko did well as back up, I hope that Gorkss gets back in the team after his two match ban. Rachubka worries me though. He fumbled too many times, his kicks are getting worse and worse. He gets the length on them but too many times they just go straight out for a throw-in. At one point in the 1st half he tried to dribble the ball round one of their players on the edge of the penalty box from a back pass, and very nearly fell over the ball. He was incredibly fortunate that the player didn't nick it off him and just pass the ball into the net. Paul Gerrard was on the nench tonight, one of the very few times we have eve had a sub keeper on the bench. It wouldn't surprise me if Rabs ended up getting dropped at some point this season. Stuart Green made his debut this evening though he didn't have time to make an impression coming on so late.

Being honest, Wolves in the 2nd half were the better team, but as I said we matched them and either side could have nicked a goal and won. But it is one more point toward safety which is all that matters this season.

The good thing was that most of the teams below us lost. The only winners were Colchester United who WONDERFULLY beat PKE 2-1 with Super Scotty Vernon scoring Colchester first goal.. WAHEY, there was a good reason why we sold him to Colchester then! Well done Agent Vernon!

Talking of that, the half-time guest was former 'Pool player Paul Simpson who was introduced superbly and who also received a huge reception from the crowd. It went along the lines of something like this, this former 'Pool player did well at Blackpool but it is his exploits after he played for us for which we are grateful. He went on to do well in Cumbria (*) but it was his explois at the other end of the M55 for which he will be remembered (**), please welcome Agent Simmo! The announcer, Tony Parr, also mentioned other stuff about him being a double agent and such stuff half of which I can't remember but very funny stuff.

Funniest moment of the 2nd half was when Wolves brought on Freddy Eastwood, and Tony Parr inisisted on saying, "replacing Andy Keogh is FREDERICK Eastwood" .... :D

All in all a decent result. Wolves are a decent side who could still challenge for promotion. Great again to see the place virtually full, and a good atmosphere in the ground too. Just a pity that Karl Oyston prefers to extend the GK Stand so that there can be more away fans instead of increasing capacity for home fans. The rumoured post-match "protest" seemed to consist of a few fans in A or B Block in the Kop chanting "Oyston Out" and the like and that was it.

Up next Ipswich Town away on Saturday. GULP.

(*note1: he became manager of his hometown club, Carlisle United and did well with them)

(**note2: basically he left Carlisle to become PKE manager which infuriated Carlisle fans as they dislike PKE intensely too. And whilst he was at PKE, he did superbly well in his role as "Agent Simmo" overseeing a disastrous start to this season where they were at one point rock bottom, before they sacked him - after he had of course achived his aim).

Yesterday, posting Match Tracker duties fell to me as DynamoGal was traveling. This being a weekday game I could only lend half an ear to the Internet broadcast since the game started at 1:45 in Houston and I was at work (work is the curse of the drinking class, you know.) For those who have never listened to the BFC Internet feed, the announcers, who are unapologetically BFC supporters, are quite entertaining. Both sound as if they have fewer years ahead of them than behind them and will leave this world as they entered it, fans of the Tangerine. The color man must be afraid of the microphone because it sounds like he is across the press box from it but it doesn’t really matter because when I can hear him I struggle understanding him through his accent. Anyway, there were two absolutely violent protests by the announcers to the lack of handball calls during the match. Judging from how they carried on about both calls, I like to assume there was some merit to their comments and that they were not just being 'homers.' In the first half, one announcer commented that the ref could have made the call with his back turned, but instead he was facing the play and only ten yards away. According to the announcer, the WW player not only made contact but also directed the ball and should have been booked. In the second half, the objection came in the form of the comment, "not only was that a handball but it was a traveling violation as well, and of course it wasn't called!"

From the call, it sounded as if WW was the better team. With a tied score you remain hopeful of a lucky goal to save the day. Unfortunately it did not come. The game also seemed to get a bit sloppy at the end and the ref started flashing the yellow. Four cards (two to each side) in all with one coming in stoppage. I guess we should be glad we got one point closer to safety.
