Any argentine futbol fans? I've been watching every sunday on FSW, and it's a great league, great fans, players.

Argentine soccer rules!

Gotta love the passion and electric atmosphere in Argentina. What do think of the Apertura so far? What's up with Rosario Central? They and Menoti are on fire. FSW also shows the Argentine Futbol Highlights Show on Tuesdays at 11pm EST (10pm CST).

BTW Independiente vs Racing next Sunday. That's going to be a good superclassico. :)

I love Argentine football as well. They have some of the most passionate fans in the world and obviously some incredible rivalries.

Rosario's suprising early on but they did beat a few of the weaker teams. It'll be interesting how long they can keep their form up.

I love watching argieball on FSW, but unfortunately my espaniol isn't good enough to understand alot of the commentary. What I've found very suprising is that even though most of the big money players have defected, the quality of play is still good. River blasted Colon today w/ a bunch of kiddies. Granted River has dropped considerably since last season, they can still put on a good show.

Boca, my favorite primera team, looked dominant last wk & I'm sure is off to the start of yet another apetura(sp) caliente.

Seems like the powers on FSW are trying to switch around game and program schedules too much. ;)

One of my favorite leagues to watch. And River "blasted" Colon today? 1-0 and they had 10 men most of the match. They were lucky to get out with the win.

Seems like one of the unexpected teams always makes a run at the title. Last time it was Gimnasia. The two times before that Racing and San Lo came away winners.

River hit the post twice, just missed on a freekick, and blew a wide open chance late in the match. They dominated the midfield and colon took created few chances. The score should have been 3:0, but sometimes the scoreline doesn't always reflect the way a game was played. For example Atlas took Necaxa behind the shed and nursed a 3:1 lead until Nec got a trash time goal. Noone would say nec did anything to deserve winning that pathetic showing.

And considered that River played the last 3 matches with players suspended or injured. In this game D'Alessandro (showing his age of maturity) refused to leave the pitch after picking up a hamstring. Plus in futbol the ten with 10 players seems (sometimes) to play better than the team with 11.

What happened to River Plate's coach Ramon Diaz from last year? Was he fired? Why? Was it because of the poor showing in the Copa Libertadores? BTW, does anybody know a good website where I can find the Argetinian standings -- I don't care if it's in English or Spanish.

The doctors suspect D'Alessandro will be sidelined for up to 3 weeks! I'm a huge Boca fan but River has quality payers!

BTW El Pelao Díaz reject a "supposedly" extension of his contract (he signed just for one season) and yes, the reason was that the board felt unsatisfied with the performance shown in la Libertadores.

I follow River Plate -- I started watching two years ago when I was able to get Fox Sports World. My friend is a big Boca fan, so I usually watch the games with him and give him grief -- especially after last year. When I first started watching River, I was really impressed with Saviola. Now I really enjoy watching Andres D'Alessandro -- the ball practically sticks to his feet. I have heard that D'Alessandro might follow in Saviola's footsteps and move to Barca, which is fine as long as he dosen't go to Real Madrid. I am curious to see how this year pans out. With the economic problems and player defections, I hope the quality of play doesn't suffer. However, what I do really love about Argie futbol is the exciting young players that are groomed in the league -- they may move on to greener pastures but they sure are fun to watch while they're here. Speaking of young talent: what is the name of the 18 year old Boca signed? Where is he from? He looks like he is going to be a great player, even in a completely revamped Boca squad.

Carlos Tevez, he's on his way to Europe! :)

How long does Tavez's contract run? Hopefully he will be in Argentina for a few years, although I can't imagine a player with that much talent (at such a young age) will stick around for long when the big-money clubs in Europe come calling.

"lol reminds me of my best friend and our spanish duel in the classic Barça vs madrid!"

At least my friend who follows Boca despises Madrid -- that much we can agree on! We can spot evil from miles away and are united in our shared hatred of Madrid.

Agreed! madrid (without capital letters) is evil!!!

Tevez signed a single year contract, how good is your spanish???

Thanks for the info and the link on Tavez, Mario. I'm from the states and had the best in U.S. education, so, as one would expect, I can hardly speak or write in English, let alone Spanish (this is my weak atempt at a joke) -- actually, I can read Spanish better than I can comprehend spoken Spanish, which makes it hard when I'm around my wife's family.
What team do you follow in Argentina, Mario?

p.s. I wll never capitalize madrid again -- another result of the English rule to capitalize proper nouns, but then again, madrid aren't really "proper" then, are they? (another stupid joke)

Man I'm dumb -- just realized that your signature lists Boca. Can we still be friends, Mario? Even though I like River?
