I'm watching the Grammy's and they have commercials saying Dexter is coming to CBS and I was like WTF ! Is this just because of the writer's strike that they are airing this ?

yep.

i don't know how it will translate. they can't can't possibly allow them to be so graphic on regular network tv.

Yup its starting on 2/17 at 10pm. There's been lots of talk about the translation to network tv, but I honestly don't believe the producers would let the show be carved up and changed specifically for that reason. It's too good a show just to let some editor hack away at it.

I have high hopes for this, as a few of my non showtime having friends have been waiting to watch for some time, and now they have an option outside of shelling out a bunch of money for DVDs.

I recently watched Season 1 of the Dexter on Netflix. I thought it was pretty good, not great however, with the emotional growth of the Morgan siblings to be extremely slow. Then again how fast can a traumatized serial killer change? If they intend to show one episode each night on commercial TV, they will need to cut substantially. The episodes from the Showtime series were each about 55 minutes long and I believe they only show about 45 minutes of content per hour on commercial TV.

i'm not a big fan of this show. i wished the strike had happened a couple of years sooner and "dead like me" would've gotten this type of exposure..i loved that one... ;)

that said, the last 3-4 episodes of dexter drew me in a bit...
