Metrogo and myself made it out to a great bar,
Floyd NY (http://floydny.com/)
Near cobble hill/brooklyn heights to get some signatures today.
We talked to alot of people, and they seemed very receptive to the
idea of NYCFC.
We plan on going again next week when Tottenham play
(this is the bar for the Official american supporters club of spurs)
so they will be there in numbers whenever Tottenham play.
If anyone can make it out there and help out, grab a beer
(fish and chips next door!)
let either metrogo or myself this week.

Yeah it worked out really well. Got 25 signatures, basically everyone in the bar for the chels-liv game. Mostly english ex-pats who seemed quite interested in a NYC team ("it's about time!") and I think virtually all showed real interest. They're just not interested in a NJ team.

Two american red bull season ticket holders said that they always said that if NYC gets a team, they would definitely switch allegiance.

During half time, kings and I just walked around from group to group, explaining what we were doing. Nobody, not one, was dismissive. Everyone was interested. We decided a lower key approach, as opposed to an announcement to everyone at halftime, because we thought we'd come off as loud mouth americans to the english. It worked.

I think we each need to do this. Maybe we can go in pairs and hit a couple of the manhattan bars that show games These signatures are real signatures, real shows of interest. Also creates a buzz -- 25 soccer fans now know that somehting is happening.

Also, Cosmos, can we hit some bars on roosevelt where people go to watch league games from SA or Mex????? I think we need the flyers too.

I think the planning and strategy should be off the public forum, if anyone has any ideas how to accomplish that.

Nick and I have discussed ramping things up, and we are concerned that if we try to generate press interest too soon, it could backfire because we're still small. That's actually nick's idea and I think he's right. But maybe that should give us the impetus to move now, and move quickly, rather than wait until March 1 to do more planning.

I agree completely. I was talking to Nick and Paul about having a way to messenger each other during the day or at least have an email where all the board members are contacted at once.

Great job and great idea. I am working on getting us a bunch of biz cards. Something simple-our name, short description of who we are,our logo and website. We can hand this out in situations like you guys were in at the bar.You might not always have a flyer on your person but maybe we can each carry a few cards that we can hand out if need be.

And I like your idea of going up to each small group instead of making a announcement.Besides not being annoying it gives it a personal touch.Like we want each person to be involved, you know?

I think that an email list might be better. We would all get the messages and would be able to reply right away to everyone at once.

i don't want to get a huge mass reply every day though.
Id be nice to have just a board we can check like we do here.

It wouldn't be an email list for trivial things. Just the important communications that we all need to be aware of.
