imo, pirlo is the best passer in the game, and he has the best freekick
I disagree there personally, his free kick is very good, but riquelme and juninho and some others i would take ahead of him.
add the intelligence and u got the best right now imo
u saw how horrible we were without pirlo when he was suspended a couple of games ago jpick(dont remember what game it was exactly)
Oh, i am well aware how dependent milan is on pirlo to their play. the game he was suspended was udinese i believe.
we couldnt do without pirlo,we need him even more than kaka imo
yeah, you can certainly make that argument i would say milan is (way too) dependent on both about equally right now. kaka when on song gives a truly extra dimension.

as for the freekick part
i could understand why one would pick juninho
but right now u cant really take riquelme over pirlo
unless u watch every boca game(is he even a starter there?)

of course riquelme starts

yeah, actually boca is on quite a bit here on fsc, either live or delayed, though i don't watch every boca game. he is definitely a starter, plus he scored in qualifying as well in the fall. i guess it depends what one means by "right now." obviously in the fall he didn't score too much for villarreal as he didn't play, but it's not like he lost his free kick ability, he just didn't have an avenue to show it. anyways, it is not the main focus of this topic and i don't want to hijack the thread into another "best free-kick taker" thread, as we have had about a dozen of those over the past year. :D

Carrick's not fit to lace Pirlo's boots. Thats how much Pirlo is better, not how bad Carrick is, he's just not up to Pirlo's standards.
Carrick does pass the ball well and pulls off some passes with his left foot that are impressive, but Pirlo is much smarter and much more skillfull.
Carrick had another blinder today against a midfield of Fabregas, Gilberto and Hleb. His long range passing was a dream, both on the floor and in the air.; his pass for Nani specifically. His interceptions were well timed, he got his head up and made the right decision every time. His shooting was abysmal but all in all his performance was imperious and it is no longer fair to say he is not fit to lace Pirlo's boots.

Don't talk out of your ass please. Questioning whether Riquelme starts or not for Boca is proof enough that you don't know anything about him.
And Boca games aren't the only way you can watch Riquelme. He does play for Argentina you know. He's scored 9 goals in his past 9 matches for Argentina(non friendlies) which of course is excellent. 4 of them were from FK's.

I beleive that if i had to make a team right now, with any player i wanted, Pirlo would be my second pick after Buffon.

Anyone that knows Carrick's game was not surprised by that performance in the least.

Incidentally did you even watch the game today or know what Carrick can do?

I know Carrick is not a bad footballer that was just a compliment to Pirlo. As good as Carrick is (I like him this is not a shot at him) Pirlo is THAT MUCH BETTER.

Carrick has a brilliant range of passing but he doesnt have the ablility to dictate the pace of a game the way Pirlo does.

Carrick does have a better range of passes and what carrick loses in technical ability he gains in physical ability over pirlo.
He is faster, stronger and better in the air (not saying much).
He can also marshal a midfeild without protection from amrbosini and gattuso

I wouldnt go as far as that. As good as Carricks passing range is, Pirlo's is simply better.
Yes he is faster, strong and better in the air, but then those are not key attributes for a deep lying playmaker, and hence aren't particularly relevant to the discussion.
And what exactly do you mean by marshal?

I mean he can drop deep and protect the back 4 and what not without the protection of a true ball winner
And yea, those things are not really important for a DLP but they help add something to his game and it is kinda important in the EPL

I think its important in the EPL yes.
Do you think he can protect a back 4 on his own? I know he contributes more defensively than Pirlo, but would you say he's someone like Cambiasso (i.e. can act as a playmaker plus hold the midfield together?)

not that i got anything against carrick, but does he even have the same range of passing of albertini, yet alone pirlo? I'd put albertini ahead of him and pirlo ahead of albertini, personally.
