I know this had rankled him for a while but.........

The Premier League tonight confirmed that teams will be able to name seven substitutes in matches next season.

Currently, only five substitutes can be named by Premier League teams - with three of them able to be used.

The current rule, which has existed for 12 years, means the League falls into line with major European leagues, UEFA and international tournaments.

......... this new rule should make him happy. ;)

Personally I think it is a good idea. I would think with all this talk about the lack of English homegrown players that they would have the two extra subs be English u-21 players, at least if a match turns out to be a big win or big loss by the 60th minute then you can give the younger lad a run out without too much risk.

Knowing Rafa this will just let him go out and get more average players on free transfer :D

This very good news and means that a bench could include a GK, full-back, CB, central midfielder, winger and two forwards without having to resort to versatile players on the bench that can fill multiple positions.

Agreed. Seven subs definitely helps us out considering we are pretty deep team when healthy. With seven subs here would be my best 18.
