According to sources, Reading had been scouting Altidore for more than two years and made a serious bid, which Altidore was strongly considering. Reading's inability to sell one of it's players during the transfer window may have caused the potential deal to fall apart.

Damn, I would have loved to see him suit of for Reading. When he's on, he's fun to watch.

Lita I presume? Although wasn't it revealed that there were bids for Leroy late in the window?

It would have put a young player in a tough spot, but it would have been interesting to see. It's expected Jozy will be on the move soon. If the only hold-up was on the Reading side, perhaps it'll be the Royals at a later time.

I would have loved this move. I am a huge Altidore fan and he has a ton of potential with him only being 18 years old. I thought he was going to be Alt the dore (pun) in January to join a club, but Reading still have another opportunity to take him in the summer.

I have a strong feeling Newcastle is going to be bidding for him as well in the summer.

Nice goal for the US MNT against Mexico tonight. I think his stock just went up.

This would be like a dream for me.

Altidore is my favorite player that doesn't play for one of my teams...were he to go to one of my teams I would be estatic.

Darn, this would have been perfect. Jozy has been an amazing player and is a future star of the USMNT, if he isn't considered something of a star already after a great performance against Mexico and good showings in his other caps. The only problem I have with them is he plays with Red Bull New York. If he moved to Reading, he'd more than likely instantly become one of my favorite players.

Oh well, maybe for the summer.

Reading FC has confirmed interest in Altidore but it doesn't look like he will leave the MLS any time soon. Here is a link to the article: http://www.readingfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10306~1241196,00.html
