The whole week at Bayern has been overshadowed by Roy Maakay's move, but they still have to play Hanover this weekend. Match Preview here: http://www.fcbayern.t-online.de/en/club/archive/news/11322.php?fcb_sid=d3ff945e2994077e372f9b2ec9eb6706

This is a dangerous match: Hannover is probably stronger than last season; it's an away game for Munich; Munich's defense is not yet set, nor tested; and Munich's been distracted all week because of the Makaay transfer.
I'm willing to bet, however, that Makaay might come on for the last 20 min.--unless he's not allowed to play yet because of regulations.

I woke up at 6:30 to watch this display. Bayern Should have stayed home. Rau looks lost with any ball in the air and Stanjer is eating him alive. Deisler's crosses are consistently off the mark and Ollie looks two steps slow.

Bayern should bring on Maakay...

Hanover 96 3:3 Bayern Munich (3:1)
Nebojsa Krupnikovic 9" [1:0]

Michael Ballack 39" [2:1]
Thomas Christiansen 43" [3:1]
Claudio Pizarro 49" [3:2]

An OK result for Bayern, especially after their first half display. Maakay didn't get to play though.

Pizarro was brilliant today! Great work rate and his strike should have stood to make the score 3:3. All this talk of Makaay must have lit a fire under his ass. Elber better step it up or Makaay could find himself partnered with The Peruvian Prince. Glad to see over-rated "Basti Fantasti" and Rau subbed out.

I have to say that after today I would much prefer a Pizarro-Maakay partnership to Elber-Maakay. Pizarro is performing excellently at the moment, and definetly deserves his starting place.

Pizzaro and Sangol saved Bayern's south German asses today. Without Pizzaro great game, Bayern looses 4-1 today. Without Sangol's anchor at defense in the second half, it's a 6-3 finish. Elber, Kahn, Deisler, Rau, and co played like crap. They got lucky today. I want to see Pizzaro-Makaay next week--not only is Elber out after this year, this is the future matchup, and until Elber proves he can do something besides being offsides on a goal today, I don't want him on the pitch. Oh, where was Lizerazu? Without the frenchies in the back (Lizu and Sangol), the D is crap
Oh, and how could I forget the English-Canadian player of the game, Owen Hargreaves!

Oh, and how could I forget the English-Canadian player of the game, Owen Hargreaves! Yes, I must agree. Kahn has been playing badly in recent games, and if it wasn't for Bayern's defence I'm sure he would've conceded more goals. When was the last team he made a good save? Lizarazu should be in for Rau, who does not deserve to start on yesterday's performance. Sagnol should go to right-back and Salihamidzic right-mid. Deisler should go out of the starting 11. We need someone who can cross, Basti Fantasti!

Bayern were certainly most disappointing yesterday.
- Elber, for me, is a goner. He's become a liability to the team. If Elber doesn't get benched when Makaay is ready, Hitzfeld should be dragged out to the street and clubbed to death.
- Pizarro's workrate was never in question but he has a lot to improve on his accuracy in front of goal before I'd rate him above Santa Cruz.
- Deisler at least tried hard but it's obvious he's still not 100% back to his top form and should be given more time. What was Hitzfeld thinking to start him in that kinda heat?
- Ballack isn't playing at his best right now. He didn't really do anything wrong yesterday but he needs to improve his workrate. Then again he showed yesterday how he needs only one or two breaks to change a game.
- Hargreaves was way far from his best yesterday. Made lots of mistakes and his passes were generally horrible. But his freekick was superb and did saved Bayern from blushes.
- Khan worries me. He seems to be back to his daydreaming state again as he was in the beginning of last season. He'll need to quickly snap out of it and get back in form before the Champs League games start or else...
Man of the match, IMHO, was Pizarro.

Makaay didn't have the permit to play this weekend as he didn't appear on the transfer list until Friday, that's why he didn't play.
Yesterday it was the third time of his pro career that Rau played against Stajner - and the third time Stajner was the clear winner of this duel.
And funny is that Bayern got 20% of the goals against last season from Hannover (5/25) - and now it were three again.

1) Elber's offside wasn't. Completely, 100% regular goal by Pizarro.
2) Rau looked terrible.
3) Kahn looked worse.
4) Hargreaves made some great "steals" in midfield.
5) I didn't see Ballack all game.
6) Sagnol matured to world class at Bayern.
7) I am really curious about Demichelis.

Guys, before you jump on the "lets ditch all of the Bayern players" bandwagon, remember a couple things: 1. its the second game of the season--the kinks of the offseason aren't worked out yet--you've got to expect that. 2. They did the exact same thing against Hannover last year, even when they seemed to be in great form. Maybe its just that Hannover has their number 3. it was really really hot out 4. the Newcastle game midweek fatigued them(that was the reason Lizirazu and Sagnol didn't play the whole time/at all). 5. Maybe the midweek Makaay stuff took them off track
And we still got a point--so it wasn't totally a lost cause!
