You can see why Will smith is considered one of the best actors in Hollywood right now. The desperation comes thru loud and clear. At times especially towards the end of the movie the depression is almost too much, you wonder if the main character will ever catch a break. The ending was some stellar acting by Smith.

Not a bad movie but not as trippy as the Sherlock Holmes holodeck episodes of ST:TNG.

Granted, it was hard to sit thru. What really blew me away was that it was a true story. I had no idea.

Bridge to Terabithia ~ G. Csupo

Pretty blase for a kids film. I can totally understand having a crush on Zooey Deschanel, though. :)

Pilgrimage by John Ford

A mean old white trash woman from Arkansas drafts her son into World War 1 after he impregnates the daughter of the town drunk. Yes, this is a John Ford movie (pre-Code). Outstanding masterpiece.

Another unifying theme: my two favorite B movies from the 70s. What a kick-ass double feature.

Man on Fire.

Were you a virgin? Was it as good for you as it was for us?

The incredible thing about this film is that for the first 30 minutes, it pulls you in into thinking it's going to suck. And then Scott pulls out his best Peckinpah impersonation.

I'm sure the sci-fi geeks disowned it as soon as they knew Will Smith was starring, but not a bad flick.

I'm a "sci-fi" geek, and I quite like Will Smith. I thought I, Robot was OK, but it's been so long since I've read the original story that I can't even tell you how it deviated.

Even though it was 3 hours long, it felt like half of the movie had been left on the cutting room floor. All in all, it wasn't bad, but it also felt elliptical in ways that DeNiro surely didn't intend.
