And the same applies to the person who said he was slow. He's never been a fast player to begin with. So saying he is slow doesn't mean anything.
My list for top Argentina players:
1) Messi
2) Mascherano
3) Zanetti
4) Riquelme
5) Tevez
------------
6) G. Milito (He's having an incredible season with Barcelona. Imo the most consistent CB in La Liga this season.)
7) Cambiasso (Doesn't shine for the NT since he's honestly played out of position but he's incredible for Inter Milan. Underrated player.)
I don't think Tevez gets appreciated enough. He is the second highest scorer for Man U. He's only behind.......you guessed it...Ronaldo. He's still pretty young though, but so is Messi (The King of Argentine Football).

National Team Performences
1. Mascherano-Most important player for Argentina. Best DM as of right now.
2. Riquelme- IMO the 2nd most important player for Argentina
3. Messi-the future
4. Zanetti- a machine. never stops running
5. Carlitos- IMO when he comes to play, he's the hardest guy to stop on the field. strong, skillfull and can score.

 Why did you put your top 5 Argentine ranking in mixed order? It makes more sense to have the best Argie as number one instead of two.
No mix in my personal order.
1. Zanetti is still amongst the most underrated players in the world even though he captains two squads, can play effectively anywhere along the back line and to a degree the midfield. He's a stopper and contributes to the attack, wins balls, organizes and distributes. He is the best Argentine players in my opinion.
2. Messi is bad ass but still has a lot to prove, primarily that he can stay healthy long term, something he has yet to do.
3. Tevez is exactly as you say below. Aside from recent national team performances, he's a big game player, handles pressure extremely well for such a young man. NT performance drop off is more due to tactics and fatigue than anything else. He's extremely well rounded and arguably the most influential player at ManU this term minus scoring. What's scary is that he is still so young.
4. Riquelme is probably the best pure passer in the game and amongst the three best FK takers in the world. He also see's the pitch better than most players and dictates tempo unlike most. Contrary to what has been said, he is an on field leader/coach and anyone that follows BOCA knows this. I ranked him at four due to the length he sat out b/w clubs. Once in form he will be the most influential Argentine around. Keep in mind after the long lay off he comes into qualifiers and scores two cracking fk's in a row. He's class.
5. Mascherano is already one of the best DMids in the world. He is a hardman with an awesome motor and terrific vision. As he continues to improve upon his offensive contributions he will no doubt be the best two way midfielder in the world. He like Messi and Tevez is still a very young player.
I don't think Tevez gets appreciated enough. He is the second highest scorer for Man U. He's only behind.......you guessed it...Ronaldo. He's still pretty young though, but so is Messi (The King of Argentine Football).
I completely agree about Tevez and would add he's probably a more rounded player than Messi right now. Messi will be the King of Argentine futbol but he isn't just yet.

Aside from the order, this list looks familiar:D On your number one and two, I agree and feel that order can be flip-flopped as well. They compliment each other very well with Mascheranco doing a fabulous job covering for Roman enabling him to focus on leading the attack.

I don't think Xavi quite belongs in the Spanish top 5. I think it would be Iniesta there instead.

Actually, this is the unique active thread where you can put "all players" and not only goalkeepers in a small ranking.

Almost so funny as that person write "players" in the title and he thinks that word exclude automatically the goalkeepers by common sense :p.
You should mention not electing goalkeepers as a rule before correcting it as a rule mate.
Without Casillas as goalkeeper, I'd put as fifth to Puyol in that Top 5.
