How could the appalling Messi get into any team (he would'nt even get into my local pub side), let alone in the team of the year. Obviously only Man Utd players should get in that team and Rooney is the greatest player of all time, isn't that right Tesco?

Well Messi has a rather free role at Barça, as with his NT. Which is also the case with Ronaldo by the way.
Would you rather have a list that is inconsistent on the players selected rather than only their position?
I wouldn't, but I think making a major positional distinction between the two players is an inaccurate assessment.
I don't really think it's that big of a deal, actually.

Seriously, if Messi played in the PL, he'd be exposed as the poor man's S. Wright Phillips. A lot of those dribbles he makes, if you watch carefully, it's lucky bounces. First coach without a boy-crush and Messi is on the bench where he belongs.
Don't you think?

xavi is a bigger factor in barca then alonso in liverpool
Obviously by my last comment, I'm disagree about this season (not clearly).

In this Torneo Apertura?, I'm not sure, I haven't watched matches from Argentina regularly.
Just my impressions for Lucas Viatri, Aureliano Torres, Sebastián Battaglia, José Sand or Martín Morel.

Spot on mate, if Messi played in the EPL he would not even get in the WBA team, a totally rubbish player.

Good list although I might consider swapping Torres for Rolfie Montenegro at Independiente. Rolfie might be one of the most underrated players in Argentina.

The levels of irony currently operating in this thread are too much to handle.

Sand has been on fire but my top striker in Argentina this term is definitely Martin Morel. Before Tigre Morel never played top-flight futbol and bam just like he's lighting it up. Props to our possible future coach Diego Cagna for giving him a chance.
As for Riquelme it's the past couple of weeks in which he's actually looked better this term. He's been pretty blah going back to the Clausura if not further for a myriad of reasons.

He actually played some inspired futbol yesterday, maybe more so than he has at any point of this torneo. He's scored some meaningful gols lately for BOCA but yesterday he was constantly running defenders and looking for his shot. If he can continue to build on this form then I'll be happy.

yeah even though figueroa scored twice i think that riquelme was the mvp of the game and this game counted a lot
