There is little, if anything, between them. You could point to Aguero's inconsistency at times while I could point to Messi's injury problems. Either way you cannot include one over the other. Doing so would vastly overrate one and vastly underrate another.

Aguero definitely deserves to be in a La Liga top 10. One of the top strikers in the league.

Xavi would be one of my main choices. His form right now is ridiculous. He's easily one of the top 5 best midfielders in the world right now.
1) Messi
2) Casillas
3) Xavi
4) Villa
5) Senna
6) Iniesta
7) Cazorla
8) Eto'o
9) Sneijder
10) Ruud
11) Aguero
Aguero > Cazorla/Iniesta/Sneijder even.

Messi is currently playing on a level that Aguero could only dream of. If you compare both when they're at their absolute best, there is no comparison.
ChelseaForTheCup(s): Iniesta > Aguero. Iniesta has been a madman this season so far.

If Aguero is better than Messi, he's the best player in the world. If Aguero is as good as Messi, he's as good as Cristiano Ronaldo.

Wrong. Messi has done well with injuries in the past several months and his form is unmatchable at the moment.

Agree, Iniesta has been consistently playing well for club and country.

Right now, I dare say there isn't a player on earth playing better than Messi so far this season.

A few months is nothing in football terms.

6+ months is not nothing especially when that player has consistently shown the best form.

Your claim of 6+ months is a dishonest one.

Very much agreed. Very little separates the two with the biggest factor being durability. That and media hype of course which says something being that Kun gets his.

Just for starters, I agree about Iniesta in fact I'd say he's playing better than Messi as well. As I posted above, very little splits the two even when factoring the ceiling of potential. Both players haven been nothing short of impact for their clubs and to a lesser degree Argentina aside from matches played. All media hype nothing more and that truly is taking nothing away from how good Messi really is. If they swapped jerseys would you feel the same way?

 Messi and Aguero? If Messi wore an Atletico jersey and Aguero a Barca one?

Bias plays a factor in our decisions so it's only fair. Would Messi and his injury riddled start to his career still warrant the same accolades had he not been playing at Barca? I'm not saying Aguero at Barca would do more or be better but he certainly would benefit from the media exposure and the financial status Barca does have. I'm not putting down Messi at all but I find it funny how little respect Kun seems to receive in comparison.

Only the op 3 or so were in order.

Strongly disagree here Moishe. I've watched every Barca match this season and Messi and Xavi have been Barca's most important players so far. Between Messi and Xavi they have 14 assists and 11 goals in all competitions. That's 25 goals either scored or set up by those two players alone. In Messi's case it's 8 goals and 7 assists in 10 matches.
Messi's form has been ridiculous and better than Aguero so far this season. And even a bit further back is we want to include the Olympics where Aguero was mediocre and Messi shined.
If were going on last season alone then yes Aguero had a better season overall than Messi. But Messi was injured a lot so it's not a completely fair to compare them.

You know I'm a huge fan of Aguero and right now there's probably no team in La Liga that depends on someone as much as Atletico depends on Aguero but Messi is simply a more dangerous player and creatively he's better.
Of course there's the injury problem so we'll have to see what happens.
