what i mean is that if you take out rona iniesta deco robinho then messi is nothing. send messi to osasuna see if he scores many goals. c. ronaldo is like kerlon, they can play anywhere and still be the best in the field.
you obviously don't watch messi. to even say something like this is complete bs. messi is 1 of the best players in the world hands down. to say he would be nothing if 3 of the 4 players you listed weren't there is a bunch bs.
he performed great in copa america for argentina, so what do you have to say about that. you going to tell me that if he didn't have riquelme, tevez or mascherano that he wouldn't be shit? Get a clue bud.
Kerlon blows!! to even say ronaldo is like kerlon is laughable.

Your a funny kid. messi is just fast?? his little bitch?? you obviously don't like the kid so I won't even bother anymore. All I can tell you and everyone else on here is your completely wrong and have no idea what your talking about.
kerlon will not even come close to messi or ronaldo's potential when or if he comes to europe. he's got loser written all over him.

No offense to fans but Riquelme is old and slow. He can score off the occasional free kick and make a few good through ball passes here and there but he's nothing special these days. Messi is the future of Argentine football.

He still has it my friend. You can still see how good he is when he plays. The game goes through him on the field. He's still a very productive and special player. 29 years old is not that old. I agree he's coming up that age where players may start regressing but he's not there yet. Still has a lot to give.
Spot on about messi being the future.

To bad Riquelme can't produce (besides Libertadores) when he needs to. I like the guy and think he's an Argentine legend as well as still a good player, but in no way is Messi his b$tch (like erick said).

if messi had Ronaldo's size and strenght he would be a monster of a player, Gullit-like, from what i've seen Ronaldo play he is not a very finess player like Messi is, most of the time he powers his way through using his speed and size
i think Ronaldo surpases Messi's physical attributes and he can deffinately finish better than Messi but you cannot compare the class, elegance, and teamwork of Messi to the premadona style of Ronaldo

How can you come to this conclusion?
If messi was larger he may not be as agile, his game would be completely different, it is impossible to say if he would be good at all.

Since when did Ronaldo have remarkable size and strength? I do agree on the Messi's size=agility. What normally looks like a disadvantage, is turned into an advantage in Messi's case.

I'll take Messi over Ronaldo any day. So would Barcelona.
I would also take Messi over Ronaldo. Keep in mind that Ronaldo is two years older than Messi. So, Messi has time to learn how to become a better finisher. As for dribbling, if you watch even a handful of Barcelona games you would see that Messi consistently takes on 3-5 opponents and somehow gets around them. Dribbling along the far touchline? You won't see anyone dribble better there than Messi.

I don't agree with this quote. I'm sure we're all familiar with Manchester United's lineup. It's not like C Ronaldo plays with a bunch of scrubs. He plays with a bunch of stars too. I'm in no way trying to suggest that Ronaldo isn't good, he is one of the top 5 right now....but Ronaldo would NOT be scoring as many goals as he is today at United, if he was playing on PSG or a team of similar stature.
By the way, Robinho needs to be in the top 5 based on current form as well. He is singlehandedly winning some matches for Madrid.

In no way, shape, or form is Ronaldo a runaway number one in the world. He may be the best but it's not by a significant margin at all.

Why not?

Because there is a little boy named Messi that rivals him in just about every aspect and surpasses him in his passing, vision, tracking back to win balls, better close control, and not giving the ball away as needlessly while doing his 'tricks'

Pity most of that post is factually incorrect and completely ignores the fact that Ronaldo has been better over the last couple of seasons and Messi is injury prone.

The pity is that you can't see that Messi tracks back more for defense, doesnt give the ball away as much (especially while showboating like ronaldo), has superior vision which is a no brainer based on the types of assists messi provides.
Ronaldo has more strength and is a better finisher, so in regards to who is the best, it is up in the air and too close to call both ways. Therefore, the poster is right Ronaldo is not a runaway number one.

I think Ibra is up there with Ronaldo for sure.

Ronaldo also tracks back a hell of a lot and has more defensive responsibility than Messi does. I don't deny that Ronaldo gives the ball away more but that is because he plays a far more expansive game. I dispute the vision remark mainly because Ronaldo has already proven that he can assist in numerous ways and contribute to the overall attack in many more while Messi's passing and assists have been underwhelming until recently. The only thing Messi has over Ronaldo is better conventional dribbling. That is it. Oh, and being injury prone. The form Ronaldo has displayed at every level over the last couple of seasons is why he is the undisputed number one. Messi's injury problems are why he is not in the top three and whether he merits a place in the top 5 is up for debate.
