well last time I checked Bayern is doing incredibly well. dominating the Bundesliga, in position to win the UEFA and one of the favorites to win the CL next year. Easily a top 5 team in Europe IMO

but toni is not the top player there:D

tell me please is toni's team in the uefa cl

No, but that was (and those of us who are familiar with Toni realize this) decided before he arrived at Bayern Munich. Now that he is at Bayern Munich they will be in the CL. (Wait a second... Are you actually arguing my points for me? Don't try to confuse me... It won't work.)

Fiorentina won enough points to qualify for the CL both years that Toni was there but were disqualified because of a scandal (don't get me started) that pre-dated his arrival. The season before Torres arrived at 'Pool they finished 3rd. With Torres they are firmly in 4th. See where I'm going with this?

But to say that Torres is better than Toni is really absurd.
Right now he could be considered over him. Toni is the best scorer in the world right now I think, and definitely one of the best forwards, but in a comparison with the current form of Torres is far to be absurd put him over the Italian.

Huh? Current form? Toni's scored 7 goals in his last 4 games.

That's nothing to support your argument; actually, that confirms Toni is a terrific scorer and one of the best forwards right now, definitely not support your quoted idea.

We would to compare numbers certainly, Torres scored 13 goals in his last 14 matches; obviously the percentage isn't so important when the difference is so small if you try to determining the best forward, only if you are writing about the best scorer and that is already determined by the Golden Boot Award.

Both of them are in a sweet moment, whoever of them can be considered over than the other right now, and I think saying "But to say that Torres is better than Toni is really absurd" is absurd.

I know that there is more to being a center forward than just scoring. And in those little things, like making one's team better, I think that Toni compares even more favorably to Torres. Even if one were to discount the fact that Toni has a better goal ratio and more assists and all of the other things.

I'm not going to convince anyone, though. Anyone who has watched Toni half as much as I have would need no convincing. And I don't even like the guy.

Anyway, I guess we can just agree to disagree.

I'm a Bayern fan and I don't think there's been a considerable difference in quality between Torres and Toni this season.

A player only gets to play against the very best opposition about 6 times a year in the league, plus some cup and CL games. The other 30 or so games in the league are played against mid-table teams and relegation battlers. Teso, you always say players from South America can't be judged amongst the best because they don't play against top opposition, so why shouldn't this same reasoning be applied to Cristiano Ronaldo? That's why the clutch games are important.

No because the quality of player league wise is considerably better notably in the top three European leagues. Regardless Ronaldo has scored against 19 out of 20 teams in the league this season.

Best 5 players:

C.Ronaldo
Kaka(Still great to watch)
Ibrahimovic
Messi
Ribery/Gerrard

Since they're all attackers, i wanna choose 5 top class defenders too:

Essien
Mertesacker
Terry
Sergio Ramos
Puyol

The level of bitching on this thread is amazing. As for the idea that players like Christiano Ronaldo and Torres only have 6 quality games a year is laughable, if you were talking about Spain Barca would only have one or two quality games, Italy would only have about 4 as well, there is always differences in quality in leagues, but in England and Italy sort of the lower teams are MUCH better than people give them credit, especially teams such as Everton, Villa, Newcastle, Tottenham etc who have all had long runs in the UEFA cup recently. There is no super league that is simply made up of amazing teams, the cream always rise to the top, Spain is the most obvious! Italy is mainly Roma Inter AC and Juventus, so I dont get the arguments. Countries such as Argentina's leagues simply arn't the same quality but thats a different point.

The German league is not as high quality as the top three leagues in Europe, Bayern are their only top consistent team really as Dortmund have faided, Toni is a good player. The difference between him and Torres is that Torres has far less experience, has come from a COMPLETELY different league and yet has managed to dazzle everyone in only one year, he is a complete forward, sets up goals, scores goals, doing brilliant things all the time. To claim that he is not as good as Toni is a bit crazy really. I realise Toni has managed to succeed in Germany but well done him, imagine Drogba going to Lyon this summer, he would probably score countless goals as well.

Perfectly good top 5, but for defenders I would defenitely include Ferdinand over Puyol, playing for Barca doesn't make him great, I don't really think hes all that brilliant, Chivu is also pretty damn great. Essien isn't a defender he can just play there, Carvalho is better in defence.

Puyol is def not a top 5 defender

What he lacks in defensive consistency he makes for in heart, tirelessness, and loyalty. Football ain't all about skill ;).

i know that, and it doesnt get him near the top 5, especially if we're throwing DM's into the mix

He doesn't need to be a top 5 defender to do his job well at Barca, that's all I'm getting at.
