That's what you and Phil need to do to finally get along ;).
I've got no issues with him honestly. He is like my ex-wife though in that he always has to be right:D

Fabregas had a very good purple patch at the start of the season but has steadily went off the boil. The AC Milan match has been his best performance for months. The season before he went missing for the vast majority of games.
True, he says he lost a lot of confidence after he was injured earlier in the season and has struggled to get it back. So in terms of overall greatness maybe not the best YET, but in terms of potential locked up quality when it is released he is the best. You could say the same for Ronaldinho or Messi, they have both had bad patches, same with Kaka a bit this year, but they still are able to perform wonders.

I personally would put others before Cesc in terms of potential. Robinho was the perfect example last season of potential locked up that you were mentioning, and it seems that he is finally making the most of it this season. But Cesc is still young so he still has time to reach his peak.

Which, club wise, isn't good for me :o.

I think it's too early to brand Kaka another Dinho...

You kind of expect a player to drop off a little after a long ass season where your club plays in the Club WC...

One last thing to add to what I said, imagine Kaka, Messi, Cesc, Gerrard, Henry etc turning up at a club in South America or MLS at their current quality, they would be the entire club by themselves.
At MLS yes.
In South America the players you mention would do well, but don't think they would dominate as much as you asume. At least not more than they dominate in Europe. You grossly underestimate South American defenses. The top teams are strong defensive, and the more modest squads are usually very savy and tend to bunker a lot, and they also are good at coming up with all kinds of schemes to mark and intimidate the top players, making it very difficult for even the most talented stars to become dominant.
A guy like Riquelme always will get special attention from the opposing team. What he is doing at Boca is amazing.

How many games has he played for a European club against TOP COMPETITION recently? Copa America was a good showing but players like Robinho outplayed him. Since the summer he's missed games for Argentina. How can you rate a player that has barely played against top competition all year? Get a clue.
If you think the only top competition is in Europe, then you're deluded. Riquelme is playing in the Argentine league, he is playing Copa Libertadores, he played Copa America and he played every match in the Eliminatorias for the World Cup. That is top notch competition day in and day out.
The problem with Riquelme is that because of his style of play, you can't just put him on a team and expect him to dominate. You have to build a team around him to suit his style of play. But if you are able to build the team that suits him, as Boca did, as Villareal for a while did, and as Argentina under Basile does, then he is as dominant as any player in the world bar none.

Out of curiosity, who would you say are the Nestas and Ferdinands of South America?

Hey, you and I are both in the draft, so I don't want to give you any sleeper picks. :D
But let me just say this. Obviously Nesta is in a class of his own, and Ferdinand is also in rare company. But watching Champion league matches and UEFA matches and top European league matches this year, there are a number of players who are starting for some of the top European clubs, who just one or two years ago were playing in Argentina.
In fact, I was watching this morning a replay of one of the Champions league 2nd round matches and one of the defenders who started for one of the teams was playing for an Argentine team last year. And I have no doubt that some of the players playing in Argentina today will be competing in the top Euro leagues in the next year or two.
Likewise, there are players playing today in Argentina, including defenders, who were playing at Champion's league or UEFA cup, or in top European leagues, not too long ago.
So, don't underestimate the quality of the Argentine league, or the Brazilian league or other South American leagues for that matter.

Maradonna, what a talent. The guy certainly had ability but not to be in my top five.
Besides, I'd never forgive him for cheating with his "hand of God" bollocks!!

yeah alot of talent. even though he apoligize for the hand of god, everyone will remember him for it. another reason why he is not top five is because his drug problems and he is bad influence for us the young soccer players:D

Present:
1. Lionel Messi (injured, too injury prone this season)
2. Kaka (team is struggling overall)
3. CR (probably number 1 in the world)
4. Francesco Totti (don't have much of an argument for or against him)
5. Sergio Aguero (still too young and unproven)
Added my comments next to each player.
In terms of most valuable player to their team, that is a damn good list.
