I just entered my drafted and undrafted teams into the BigSoccer League,
Is anybody interested in championsleague fantasy??? there is an excellent one at
www.uefagames.com
and did anyone hear the news that Makaay has been registered for Champions League play for Betis! not Bayern... seems he may be staying put, there was a dispute over who should pay the million dollars to his former team.

I agree that if we're going with players being free for the taking once they're available, so let's avoid the complication of another draft. I still think the mid-season draft worked well last year, but that's a different story... for now I support Michel's idea of making all players eligible at all times. I have no problem, though, with players holding on to provisional picks from the draft. Players like Phillips and Kleberson SHOULD be in the league before the start of the season, and I have no problem letting managers who picked them hold on to their rights. But if we decide to void these picks let's be sure it's mutually agreed and definitively stated so there's no confusion and the jockeying can begin.
Quick note, I think Makaay has been registered with Deportivo, but I think that's what you meant...

Quite right... got a little excited there...
as far as it goes, we Kleberson is only delayed by a work permit... I think provisional picks should stay if
A) the teams have agreed on a price
B) One team has put in a bid and the player has expressed interest in leaving his club.
This means that Vieri cannot be a provisional pick but Kleberson can,
I think a rule like this protects managers from selecting a player who never enters the league but still rewards them for having a finger on the football world's pulse...
No More Drafts... I agree, free for all, but how do we know that someone does not jump the gun and "anticipate" someone being signed and picks him before he is in the database??? Well, I suppose we could all trust each other's Honor, afterall we are the 2nd highest form of human beings, Football fans... (1st being players themselves, Coaches/Managers 3rd.)

Indeed, most of us do get together for the European games as well.... which are just around the corner.
Last Year's Big Soccer Champions League (http://en.uclfantasy.uefa.com/M/table.mc?id=66403) and UEFA Cup (http://en.ucupfantasy.uefa.com/M/table.mc?id=86570) -- which I actually won.
There's also a Euro2004 Fantasy League (http://en.euro2004fantasy.uefa.com/M/table.mc?id=65119) and Prediction League (http://euro2004predictor.uefa.com/M/table.mc?id=79534), which is already well under way.

He can't.
A transfer has to be announced with the team and price.
We all have access to the database, so if a player is not there. There is no transfer.

So who's gutsy enough to sign Bobby Convey once he gets to Spurs?

What position does he play?
Everton said to want Mc Bride back again.

Convey's a midfielder but I can't see him getting much playing time at WHL. Which reminds me -- is Reyna really going to play D1 footie this year? I haven't heard anything since early summer talk of his move to Rovers, but nothing seems to have happened.
Let me also share my thoughts on the rumored JFH move to Betis... I can't see him going. First of all Chelski are clearly thin up front and wouldn't want to sell him even if they do sign another striker. Secondly I can't see JFH leaving the Bridge now that his team finally has the aspirations he's been missing. Finally he would never leave a CL contender for Betis, who I don't think are even in the competition. And I can only pray that I'm right :)

I vote B in the poll as well. Free Agents must be entered into the database/no more provisional picks at all.
Btw, Hal's idea basically for a "waiver" wire is exactly what the better baseball leagues use, but I don't think it would work for us as how would we decide when the waiver period began?
So I think we're left with the Free for All style.

I was on the phone with my sister last night about the Eto'o and Viduka rumours.
She said the feeling around the ground is that the Viduka thing is just his agent talking, the Eto'o kink has merit and his agent is supposed to be in contact with the club and he probably wont play against Fulham on Sunday incase he does himself in and scuppers any chance of a transfer before the window closes.
Feeling is that Hasselbaink will never capture the form of past, has lost a step, his confidence, is the wrong side of 30 and will be forced out of the club to make way for a top class striker.
All the top teams have one and if Chelsea want to compete at the very highest level must also have one.

Free for all is my thought too. No more drafts. Even though I'd get to go first.

I think we can close discussion on the free-for-all issue, which seems pretty much unanimously decided. Just my luck, I'll probably end up losing JFH and have to replace him with some 5 mil scrub from Fulham!

You did not quite get me... my thinking was if someone claimed that he is in the database and signed him off, while no one else is online and the player eventually added to the database, there is no way we would know if he is telling the truth... but that is just supposition and it does not matter...
onto something of more importance, make sure to let me know when the bigsoccer champs league league gets started... i will definetely be a part of that...

I certainly hope noone would try to cheat in this way in a free fantasy game. And having played with many of you before, I don't see it happening. In any case, the cheater would have to be incredibly lucky. He'd first have to guess the EXACT price for the player, and the player would have to be entered into the database by the time anyone else in the league saw the transfer post. These two seem quite unlikely. And naturally in that case, I would immediately expell the team from the league, and we'd divy up his team via draft. :(

Well, the season has not yet started and ive had some bad luck already seems one of my guys has picked up a knock, not sure how fit he will be, awaiting word of that, but i am very interested in signing a striker...
Chris Bergin reported that Solano was asking for a meeting with the manager of Aviators to re-negotiate his contract. Rumor has it that Noberto is even prepared to submit his transfer request.
Might other managers take advantage of an unsettled player?
