I know this is early but after Saturday's game against the Fire, I just had to start this thread. Have we beaten the Metro-Bras twice this season already? Why don't they just capitulate and give is the 3 points? Anyway, it appears the game will be televised locally. I am predicting an easy win. Let's see Kries, ROB and Suarez will score the goals while Jordan shuts out that anemic offense of the Bras. Additional input is welcomed.

NY/NJ's offense has improved dramatically with the addition of Diallo and Andy Williams so this should make for a good matchup.
Personally, I dislike the Metros more than any other team in the league including the Fire. They've always had more than there fair share of hacks -- Jolley, Petke, etc -- and to that they've added Diallo, arguably the most recklessly dangerous player in the league.
And certainly there's no love lost between the Dallas and NY players. You can usually count on at least several shoving matches breaking out each game and as the stats show below, plenty of red cards too.
.............Total # of players ejected last 5 matchups vs. Burn
.....................Burn.....Opponent.....Total
NY/NJ................2............3.............5
Chicago.............1............0.............1
KC....................0............1.............1
Colorado............1............0.............1
Columbus...........0............1.............1
New England......1............0.............1
DC.....................0............1.............1
San Jose............0............0.............0
LA.....................0............0.............0

Actually, this game isn't being televised locally.
Initially, it was supposed to be. But when the July 6 game in Kansas City went from being a 3 PM game on ESPN2 to a 7 PM game on Fox Sports Net Southwest, TV coverage of this game was dropped. I guess the Burn only has so much money to buy time for local telecasts, so if you add coverage of one game, you gotta drop coverage of another.
However, because the Metros televise all their games, it will be in the Shootout package. And if you can't swing that, it'll be on the radio on Fox Sports 1190, which is netcast at http://www.foxsports1190.com.
Three points in this game would be very nice, since San Jose is four points ahead and are hosting DC United this weekend (don't count on them being the first to beat the Quacks at home). And the other three teams in the West are close on our heels. Plus, the other teams in the West are playing the following schedules this week:
LA - at Columbus on Wednesday, home to Colorado on Saturday
Colorado - at LA on Saturday
Kansas City - at Chicago on Wednesday, home to Columbus on Sunday
If we lose this game, we could be in last place in the West at this time next week.
So we gotta win this game.

Buzz,
How do we access the preview page from the website's homepage?
I was able to get to the preview using the link you supplied above:

but couldn't figure out how to get there from the homepage.

from a NY paper...
The MetroStars expect midfielders Clint Mathis (knee) and Brad Davis
(plantar fascia tear) back in the lineup for Saturday night's home match
with the Dallas Burn. Both may see limited time against Chivas, as will
Akwari...

Mathis back? Hmmm...
We need to win this game, I think we can take them if we played as well as we did Saturday.

Mathis isn't half the threat he was once upon a time. Maybe he will be someday, but certainly not this week. Don't get me wrong, he's still good; I just don't think there's going to be any 60 yard goals like last year.

I agree with you on Mathis. Whether it's the injury, his fitness, or whatever, Mathis hasn't been particularly impressive this year (other than that one sweet goal in the World Cup)
Diallo, on the other hand, has been tearing it up since arriving at the MetroStars. He seems to be a less selfish player than in his Mutiny days, and coupled with Andy Williams, the Metros have a pretty good lineup when healthy.

The preview is always clickable from the NEXT GAME section... right under the logo of the next opponent.
Jeffries told me Metro is saying they will have Mathis and Davis. I was waiting to see who plays in their exibition before I change there "potential" lineup.

OK, I feel real stupid here but for the life of me I can't find either "NEXT GAME" or the MetroStars logo on the home page.

Thanks. :)
My difficultly was I didn't realize I needed to scroll horizontally.
The 800x600 setting I normally use works great for BigSoccer and, in fact, most webpages. But I guess your page is designed with 1024x768 in mind.

According to MLSnet's injury report, Diallo is out for Saturday's game. Can we really be that lucky or is that old info? It's dated 8/13, does anyone have a more recent update?

I think we can win this one. We're catching the Metro's at a good time with Mathis, Davis and Diallo coming off of injuries, I think they we'll all see limited time. Diallo is the one that concerns me, but only in the early part of the game. He's the type of plyer that can strike quick and we seem to slow getting started sometimes. If we shut Diallo down at the start, I think we can win this one.
Also, if we can stay injury free down the stretch would be a big plus.

Does anyone have any info on the new guy Metro signed? His name is Leo Krupnick. They have a thread about him on the Metro board, but I'm not computer saavy enough to post the link. It really doesn't have much to say anyway, just a short bio.
